18 killed as bus from Bihar to Delhi crashes to a milk tanker on Lucknow-Agra Expressway

In a serious road accident, at least 18 people died and according to reports 19 got severely injured after a Bihar bus going to Delhi crashed into a milk tanker in Unnao on the Lucknow-Agra expressway on July 10, Wednesday. There were 3 women and a child also in the bus and all three of them got killed in this accident according to police sources.

The bus was on the road from Bihar and was going towards Delhi and that’s when it got hit by a milk tanker from the back. The effect of the clash was such that people tossed out of the bus when it toppled over, according to sources. The pictures of the scene had bodies on the ground, scraps of metal, damaged glasses and ruined personal belongings of passengers.

According to official reports, the double-decker bus was carrying mostly workers. Only 2 of the deceased people were identified as Rajnish Kumar (26) and Mohd Shamim (28) however the process of identifying more people is still ongoing. The accident took place around 5:15 am when the bus banged into the milk tanker on the Expressway. 

SB Shiradkar, Director General of Police, Lucknow told PTI that around 14 men, 3 women and 1 child were killed due to this severe accident. According to reports, 19 others were injured and were rushed to the hospital. Both the drivers were killed as well. 

After the accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conveyed grief and commanded all the officials to make sure that all injured people get proper treatment. 

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi also gave his condolences and announced a compensation of 2 Lakh Rupees for the deceased and 50,000/- for all injured and also said that all possible help will be given to the victims by the state government. 

However, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav blames BJP for this terrible accident and all the loss of lives.
