2 years after the death of IIT Kharagpur student Faizan, 2nd forensic reports reveal it was not a suicide but a murder.

IIT Kharagpur student whose case was closed after stating that it was a suicide after he was found dead in the hostel room once again came to light after 2 years when the second forensic reports which reveals injuries and stabbing.


Introduction

Faizan Ahmed a third year mechanical student who hailed from Assam was found dead in Lala Lajpat Rai hostel in a room which was not allotted to him on 14 October 2022. The case was shut down after stating that it was a suicide case.

The parents of the youth sensed a foul play and said their child could never commit suicide. After which his parents proceeded towards the Calcutta High Court and urged them for the formation of Special Investigation Team (SIT) because according to them their son was murdered and he cannot commit suicide, they also complained that the authorities of IIT Kharagpur and the police are striving to give a name of suicide to this case, after which the High Court ordered a second autopsy for Faizan’s body.

After which the second autopsy reports were submitted this year in the month of May, the report prepared by DR. A.K. Gupta stated that their were gunshot and stabbing wound marks around his neck and chest he also revealed that all these were not mentioned during the first autopsy done.

After the appointment of SIT it was also revealed during the investigation that the deceased faced ragging too and he also went ahead and complained about the same to the higher authorities of the institute. After which the director was put in charge of the same after he did not acting on the complaint by the student after which a case on ragging was recorded and 6 people in which staffs and students were there, surrendered though were later released on bail.

After this new turn in the case, all awaits how the investigation is going to go further. The lawyer of the family said that it took 3 days to the police to find the body of the deceased in the institute campus, adding to it said they are not satisfied with the investigation so far and the police is lacking behind in the case, they failed to find any suspect of the murder and also the initial autopsy reports also claimed that it was a case of suicide and the police didn’t bother to do any further investigation on the same.

The lawyer also told that how the police is doing investigations based on the results of the first post mortem which the court clearly told them not to. He also accused the institute authority for not taking the required actions against the people whom the deceased complained about and how with the help of the police they are trying to cover up the matter.

The hearing of the case is next week under Justice Amrita Sinha. Faizan’s parents are eagerly waiting for the justice to be served by the court for the loss of their only child and waiting for the time to see the criminals behind the bars.
