Pathaan:
2023 starts with Aditya Chopra’s action pack movie Pathaan, starring Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Ibrahim’s including Dimple Kapadia and Asutosh Rana in supporting roles, directed by Siddharth Anand. His movie was released in theatres on 25 January, 2023.
The plot of this film was a exiled RAW Agent Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan) who works with an ISI agent Dr. Rubina Mohsin(Deepika Padukone), to arrest Jim, (John Ibrahim) leader of “Outfit X” and a former RAW Agent who was planning to attack in India, with a deadly virus. Made on Rs. 240 Crores budget, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan became 25th All Time Blockbuster in Hindi Movies Industry with the gross of ₹1,050.30 Crores worldwide. Pathan became the 2nd highest grossing Indian movie of 2023.
The Kerala Story
Starring Adda Sharma and Sudipto Sen’s directed movie The Kerala Story hits the theatres on june 15, 3023. The story of the film was about women who immigrated to Pakistan and how their life became. After lots of controversies on very sensitive issues in India- Hinduism and Muslim religion. This movie has achieved a major success. The movie’s budget was Rs. 20 Crores and in India the movie grossed around 241 crores and Rs. 303.97 crores worldwide.
Rocky and Rani kii Prem Kahani:
Karan Johar’s produced Rocky Rocky and Rani kii Prem Kahani was released on theatres on 28 th July, 2023 with a huge star cast including the hero and heroine Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Shabana Azmi, Churni Ganguly, Kshitee Jog and Aamir Bashir. The film is a romantic comedy family drama film where the lead character Rocky Randhawa (Ranveer Singh) and Rani Chatterjee (Aila Bhatt) decide to live with each other’s family for three months before getting married. The budget of this film was 160 crore, and made a good score at the Box office. This film earned 355 crores rupees worldwide.
Gadar 2
Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 with the subtitle The Katha Continues was the 2nd sequence of the film Gadar Ek Prem Katha, released in 2001. After 22 years, director Anil Sharma decided to make its 2nd part with the same star cast. Including Sunny Deol, actress Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprise their roles in this film. The story was based on the 1970s Indo-Pakistani War. Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) returns to Pakistan to rescue his imprisoned son “Jeete” Singh (Utkarsh Sharma). This film hit the theatres on 11 August, 2023 and became commercially successful. This film’s budget was 60 crores and has earned ₹691.08 crores on the worldwide platform. It’s the fourth highest grossing movie of 2023.
OMG 2
Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam Dhar’s acted satirical comedy drama film OMG 2 is 2nd part of the film OGM which released in 2012, directed by Amit Rai. Akshay Kumar’s OMG revolved sex education in india. This film was released at the same time as Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 on 11 August. This film was also a hit and earned over 100% of its budget. This film was released with a 50 crores budget and earned 221 crores worldwide.
Jawan:
After Pathaan Shah Rukh Khan’s second action pack movie Jawan hits the theatres on 7th September, 2023. Including SRK, South Indian actress Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Lehar Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Priyamani was also casted for Jawan. Jawan is an action thriller movie which means Soldier. The story is about a man who is seeking to understand the right and the wrong in society, maintaining a promise he made years ago. The budget of this film was 300 crores. This film also became a hit, grossing ₹1,148.32 worldwide, and earned ₹761.98 crores in the Indian market.
Tiger 3:
Salman Khan’s movie Tiger 3 is a sequel movie of Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai. This is also an action thriller movie. Cast of this movie are Salman Khan, Emraan Hashmi and Katrina Kaif. This film hits the theatres on Eid, 12th November, 2023 with a 300 crores budget and becomes hit with ₹466.63 crore worldwide. Becoming fifth grossing movie of 2023 and eighth highest grossing Indian movie of 2023.
Animal:
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directed film Animal is an action drama film based on Ranvijay Singh (Ranbir Kapoor) who learns his father’s life was threatened and decided to take revenge and destroy everyone who wants to hurt his father. Including Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandana, Tripti Dimri and Suresh Oberoi was casted for this film. Hitting the theatres on 1st December, 2023 with a 100th crores budget, Animal’s box office collection is 889.17 crores. This film became a hit not only in India but worldwide. Becoming third highest grossing movie of 2023 Animal became fifth highest grossing movie of All Time Hindi Cinema with A rate.
Apart from these films Jaane Jaan, Goldfish, Joram, 12th Fail also hit the theatres in this year, however achieve an average grossing result.
