No Casualties Reported

Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident. However, the extent of property damage is substantial. The local authorities promptly addressed the situation, but the impact on the residents, who now find themselves homeless, is immense.

Incident Triggered by Land Dispute?

According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest that a long-standing land dispute may have been the cause of the arson. Nawada’s Superintendent of Police (SP), Abhinav Dhiman, shared insights during his visit to the site. “The initial investigation points to a land-related issue being at the core of the conflict,” Dhiman explained.

Shots Fired During Arson

An officer present at the site further revealed that shots were fired into the air as the houses were being set ablaze. The firing appeared to be an attempt to intimidate the residents, though no casualties resulted from the gunfire.

Swift Police Action

The police received a distress call at around 7:30 PM, alerting them to the fire. “We received a call reporting that multiple houses were being set on fire. Fire engines, along with a police team, were dispatched immediately. It took some time to control the flames due to the scale of the fire,” SP Dhiman said.

The police controlled the situation, and a large contingent of officers has since been stationed in the area to maintain peace and prevent further escalation. As of now, ten individuals have been detained in connection with the incident, and efforts are underway to apprehend others involved.

Community in Shock

The sudden attack has left the local community in shock. The affected families now face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from the ashes. The villagers reported that a group of individuals appeared in the area around 7 PM and began torching the homes without warning.

“We saw flames everywhere, and the group had weapons. We couldn’t stop them,” a resident recounted. The swift and coordinated nature of the attack suggests it may have been premeditated.

Ongoing Investigation

A formal case has been registered, and police are continuing their investigation into the matter. SP Dhiman assured the public that no stone would be left unturned in finding the culprits and ensuring justice is served. “We are leaving no avenue unexplored in our investigation. All those responsible will be held accountable,” he said.

Police Presence Ensured to Prevent Further Clashes

In light of the arson and the potential for further conflict, a substantial police presence has been deployed in the area. This measure is meant to prevent any possible flare-up of tensions between the groups involved in the land dispute.

The police are also urging the public to come forward with any information that might aid in the investigation. “We appeal to anyone with knowledge of the incident to assist the police in bringing those responsible to justice,” Dhiman added.

A Growing Concern Over Land Disputes

Land disputes in Bihar have been a longstanding issue, often leading to violent confrontations. This latest incident in Nawada is yet another example of how these conflicts can quickly escalate into violent acts, putting lives and property at risk.

Authorities on Alert

With tensions high in the region, authorities are on high alert to prevent further violence. Additional security measures have been put in place, and residents are being closely monitored to ensure that peace is maintained in the aftermath of the attack.

As the investigation continues, Nawada’s residents remain hopeful that justice will be served swiftly and that the underlying land disputes in the region will be resolved without further bloodshed or loss of property.
