About the ICC Hall of Fame
The ICC Hall of Fame, established by the International Cricket Council (ICC), honors the most exceptional cricket players and contributors to the sport. Inductees are recognized for their remarkable achievements and contributions to cricket. This Hall of Fame was created in 2009 to honor the icons of the game and ensure their legacy endures.
The selection process involves a special committee that identifies and nominates candidates based on their performances, impact, and overall influence on the sport. The ICC Hall of Fame Selection Committee is a highly established board that is currently chaired by India’s own, Anil Kumble. The committee also consults the members of the Hall of Fame in deciding the inductees. Inductees are typically recognized during major cricket events or ceremonies, with their achievements celebrated and their names permanently etched in cricketing history. They are honored with a commemorative ICC Cricket Hall of Fame cap.
The HoF includes players from various eras, honoring both their ability and the effect they’ve had on the sport. It’s a way to pay homage to the stars of the past and acknowledge their significant roles in shaping the sport of cricket into what it is today.
