Yamuna Expressway
The Yamuna Expressway is infamous for road accidents. Yamuna Expressway is a 6-lane wide and 165.5 km long expressway located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is India’s 6th longest expressway which connects Greater Noida with Agra. It was built in order to de-congest the older Delhi–Agra national highway (NH-2) also known as Mathura Road.
Other Heart Wrenching Accidents that took place
Even earlier there have been several reports of accidents occurring on Yamuna expressway.
In December 2023, at least 20 vehicles rammed against one another on the expressway, in Uttar Pradesh. The reason behind these accidents are a combination of dense fog and reduced visibility which create challenging driving situations causing life threatening mishaps.
Also, previous reports of speeding cars injuring the civilians on this expressway have surfaced quite a few times. One such incident dated October 26, 2023 was that when Indian Air Force’s Junior Warrant Officer Deviprasad Mishra, posted in Delhi, was going to Agra along with his wife Kislay and they were struck by a speeding car that emerged from behind.
Several other tragedies repeated over and over again when a double decker bus coming from Bihar overturned on the Yamuna Expressway claiming lives of three passengers and leaving seventeen others injured. Multiple other emotionally devastating cases on hit and drag case have also been recorded. Car crashes, bus truck collisions, are serious accidents that have happened time and again in this region.
