Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off six Vande Bharat trains from Ranchi on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024. PM Modi was supposed to be present in a roadshow in Jamshedpur and flag off the trains from Tatanagar but had to participate in the ceremony virtually as, due to heavy rains and poor visibility, his helicopter could not take off.

The day marked the start of the PM’s visit across the cities of Jharkhand, Gujarat, and Odisha in a course of three days. The highlights of the ceremony included flagging off six new Vande Bharat trains, laying the foundation stone for the Madhupur bypass line in Deoghar district and the Hazaribag town coaching depot, and dedicating several railway projects worth ₹660 crore to the nation. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Agriculture Minister, and Santosh Kumar Ganwar, Governor of Jharkhand, were also present at the occasion at Tatanagar Railway Station, Jharkhand.

New Routes of Vande Bharat

The six trains will be running in states such as Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. The routes for the recently started trains include: Tatanagar-Patna, Brahmapur-Tatanagar, Rourkela-Howrah, Deoghar-Varanasi, Bhagalpur-Howrah, and Gaya-Howrah.

PM Modi also acknowledged the rapid development of Jharkhand in facilitating modern services in railway stations. Along with the trains, he also inaugurated four road under bridges (RUBs). This initiative will help India boost connectivity between different regions and allow faster commute services. These new additions will further enhance tourism and increase economic growth in the respective regions.

The project results in a total of 60 Vande Bharat trains running in India, benefiting passengers with its comfort and fast mobility services connecting various more regions. These trains are known for their operational speed of 160 kmph. The new trains will revolutionize travel by featuring faster acceleration, advanced safety systems, wifi, and enhanced technology, said the railway ministry during the event.
