A hotel owner and his 8-year-old son were stabbed to death in their sleep. Both, the father and son were in their house in central Delhi’s Paharganj area.
Both of their bodies were discovered on Saturday afternoon when the hotel owner’s wife and daughter came over to check on the hotel owner and the 8-year-old after failing to get a response from them after several calls to the owner’s mobile phone.
The bodies were later identified to belong to Anuj Singh who was the owner of the hotel and his son, Raunak.
A police officer said that their bodies were discovered on the first floor of the building where Anuj stayed with his family. His neck was slit and there were multiple stab wounds on his body. The body was found on his bed while his son was on the floor, lying in a pool of his own blood.
Cause of Death for the 8-Year-Old and the Hotel Owner
While the exact reason for the murder of the 8-year-old and the hotel owner is unclear, their house was found in a condition that showed clear signs of the house being ransacked with a number of valuables suspected to be missing.
DCP(Central) SK Sain said that a case of murder has been registered at Nabi Karim Police Station and an investigation has been launched to solve this case.
According to DCP Sain, a man from Muzaffarpur, Bihar who goes by the name of Sonu, who was hired as a hotel staff is the prime suspect as he was staying on the second floor of the same building and has been missing since the morning, right after the murder of the 8-year-old and the hotel owner.
The suspect has also taken the mobile phones and the DVR which consisted of the CCTV footage from the cameras installed in the building.
Police have said that Anuj, recently bought a house in Dwarka which he often used to visit and even this Friday, Anuj along with his mother, wife, and two children went to their new house for some prayer and ritual practices. After this, Anuj’s mother and his wife decided to stay in the house while he and his son returned back to the hotel.
The decision to stay back did result in the life of Anuj’s mother, his wife, and his daughter being saved but the young boy and Anuj became victims of a brutal murder.
An officer said that it had been suspected that Anuj and his son were attacked in their sleep. Teams have been formed to nab the suspect.
Anuj and his son are suspected to be killed by Sonu in their sleep without giving them a chance to resist.
