Daniel Riccardo also known as Honey Badger is finally back to race this weekend after a very long break due to his hand injury. Danny is an Australian driver and he drives for AlphaTauri, Daniel while expressing his frustration because he was not able to race for five straight races says that he feels good that he is back.
This is not the first time that Daniel Ricciardo was not able to race, before this he did not have a seat in Formula One and was acting as a reserved driver for Red Bull but due to performance reasons, the hard RedBull administration removed Nyck De Vries from AlphaTauri and then Daniel was given a chance in the mid-season and raced for more than 2 Grand Prix but then sustained a hand injury but after all these problems and hurdles, he’s able to come back and will be racing in Austin. The Austin GP will take place this weekend from the 20th to the 23rd of October, the last day being the main race day.
He had suffered a major injury in his left hand in Zandvoort damaging his metacarpals, which needed immediate surgery that’s why he had to sit out for five races. Before coming to the race Ricciardo had been working very hard towards his fitness doing practice laps in the simulator and performing a demo in front of 30,000 people for Red Bull in Tennessee. He said that his hand feels much better than before and the demos have helped him a lot in the recovery.
Daniel Ricciardo’s recovery:
After he suffered the injury in August he explained that he had been spending a lot of time in sim, doing a lot of exercisers to keep him fit and ready for the next race, he explained that at first, it was very difficult for him to use his left hand but now it’s much better. Formula One requires a lot of fitness from quick eye reactions to quick actions and a lot of mental and physical exertion, so being fit is a very important part of the driver’s life and health.
Daniel expresses his frustration over the break, saying that after a long pause of not racing and being a reserve driver then getting back to race as a driver and then again having a major pause due to the injury, explaining that when he was finally ready to race again, he once more had to stop. He said that he didn’t feel that he had to wait for long and is very excited to drive as AlphaTauri has introduced some changes to their car AT04 and explained that he felt then in the stimulator and is ready to drive the car.
Formula One fans are very excited to see him back and are excited to watch him race as he is a very promising driver but has faced many misfortune events. Daniel Riccardo is known for his smile and he’ll come back stronger. The Honey Badger has not won a race since Monoco 2021 when he was racing for McLaren and people are waiting for his comeback.
