Jharkhand Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu and businessman who came into the limelight because of a raid found beyond Rs. 350 crore, which is a mislaid amount in various cities of the state in India, this is the biggest number of raids ever done in a single-handle mission by any department. The Income Tax Department has been counting these amounts continuously for 11 days and still going and the building belongs to this MP’s Boudh Distillery Pvt. Ltd.
Dhiraj Sahu is the son of social worker and freedom fighter Rai Sahab Baldeo Sahu and Sushila Devi. And also the brother of ex-Lok Sabha MP Shiv Prasad Sahu. Dhiraj studied BA at Marwari College, Ranchi, and lives in Lohardanga, Jharkhand. Sahu commenced his political life as part of the National Students Union of India from 1978 to 1983.
He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in a 2009 by-election and re-elected again in 2010. In May 2018, he was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha for the third time. Additionally, he was part of several parliamentary committees and is now part of Coal, Mines, and Steel, along with the Consultative Committee on Power and Renewable Energy.

According to data reported to the Election Commission in 2018, overall assets are around Rs 34 crore and liabilities are Rs. 2 crore, with a yearly revenue of Rs 1 crore. This file also mentioned capital investment in the name of Baldeo Sahu, Shiv Prasad Sahu, a family-based business containing Rs. 2.5 crore, and in Baldeo Sahu and Sons of Rs 2 crore and others.
Dhiraj also owned four personal vehicles in his name, consisting of a BMW and a Range Rover. Dhiraj’s wife possesses 3 kg of gold, and she possesses diamond jewelry worth Rs. 26.16 crore. The total amount of his non-fixed assets is 20.4 crore, and fixed assets include land and property worth Rs. 14.43 crore. Dhiraj businesses were registered in Odisha in 1994–95 and continuously function in every financial year.
Due to the large amount of black money gained from his residence and the large sum, the machines got damaged, and had to use around 20 pieces of cash-counting equipment. Due to this fiasco, the opposition is blaming Congress for corruption and other blame games. In response, they have backed down from giving support to this MP; they think it is his matter or his money, not party money. However, some sources say that Dhiraj is close to Gandhi’s family and even takes part in Rahul Gandhi’s rallies.
His old tweet resurfaced regarding corruption comments for the BJP. In some places, there is a protest going on by the opposition party for the removal of Dhiraj Sahu. Maybe it is happening because Dhiraj is associated with Congress and with well-known businessmen in India. There have also been different cases regarding cash transfers moving and getting caught in different scenarios in the past year.
