The country acknowledged the massive failure at launching alleged spy satellites, North Korea is again seen dismissing the ban by the U.N. and firing missiles to the south which meets the sea at last.

The launch failure faced by the country earlier this week was suspected of missile testing by Neighboring countries like South Korea, China, and Japan. A sitting of these countries was arranged in Seoul favoring diplomacy after the incident. North Korea launched the satellite in an unannounced direction and time which caused the Japanese government to issue an emergency warning to the people of Okinawa, a serious curfew was ordered to be practiced. 

Several Balloons full of Pamphlets, trash, and leaflets were sent to the South from North Korea in response to the anti-regime campaign on Wednesday. Some of these balloons included human feces according to the South.  

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at least 10 apparent short-range ballistic missiles are said to be launched toward the eastern coast according to an article by Japan Times. South Korean officials say that weapons were fired toward the Japanese Sea from the Sunan Area of Pyongyang, the weapons traveled a distance of 350 Km. 

Additionally, North has tested various cruise missiles, artillery systems, and a ‘Solid fuel intermediate-range missile with hypersonic warhead capabilities’ designed to reach remote US targets found in the Pacific, specifically the military hub of Guam. According to an expert source. 

How does South Korea perceive the activities across the border?

South Korea and the USA have an eye on the activities occurring in North Korea, illegal weapon making, testing, and supplying to Russia for the Russia-Ukraine War is something highly suspected. The oldest Tit-for-tat actions cause everlasting tension between the neighboring countries.  

The dictator has also warned of unspecified “overwhelming actions” opposing South Korea in response to an aerial exercise involving 20 fighter jets on the North Korean border, hours before the launch of the satellite on Monday.

Regarding the newly fired missiles, the South Korean military is determined to respond overwhelmingly to provocation. “Our military has strengthened surveillance and vigilance in preparation for additional launches” exhibiting the readiness.

How is the Japanese government tackling the violating actions of the North? 

Japan has always protested the launch as a violation of the U.N. council and is closely involved with South Korea and USA to analyze the situation, said the Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida. 

The defense ministry informed that the missiles were found inside the exclusive economic zone, extending around 370 km from its coast. In contrast, national broadcaster NHK reported that the projectile fell outside of the exclusive economic zone.

What does North Korea have to say?

North Korea has not given any stand on missile launching yet, while this is the sixth test taken place this year. The explosion last week also is suspected of a cover-up for a missile launch, however going a step further Kim Jong Un has announced three more so-called ‘Satellite launches’ in 2024. 

The balloon incident has been explained as a punishment to South Korea for threatening the sovereignty of the North by exhibiting air exercises on the North Korean border by Kim Jong Un.
