Imagine an out-of-door movie webbing under the night sky plashed with glowing stars. Sounds like a romantic affair, right? Under these situations, a relaxed atmosphere blended with the charm of cinema is guaranteed to make you feel lively, but a differing picture of an open- air movie webbing in Thailand has left netizens curious. In a sharp discrepancy to the normal out-of-door movie affair, a cemetery in Thailand reportedly organized film screening for the dead.
Special event for 3,000 descendants
These screenings were held between June 2 to June 6 and were directed by the Sawang Metta Thammasathan Establishment, as per a report in the South China Morning Post.
Nakhon Ratchasima, a northeastern area in the country, saw a graveyard home of nearly 3,000 descendants turning into a place for this one- of-a-kind event.
With a thing of alleviating the spirits, the cemetery authority arranged empty chairs and organised nightly screenings to offer this ultramodern entertainment-infused affair. The publication stated that the ghosts taking part in these screenings were assumed to be descendents of Chinese people who stayed in Thailand but could no way make their way back to China.
Services for ‘anticipated ghost observers ’
In a set pattern, the prediction for films anticipated by ghost observers at the graveyard started at 7 PM daily and extended till night, in the presence of four staff members.
It’s understood that this event matches with the traditional practice among the Chinese societies in Thailand, which is generally observed after the Ching Ming Festival or before the Dragon Boat Festival. The contractor for the event, who was actually spooked about playing films in a cemetery, later nominated his experience as unique and positive.
According to the South China Morning Post, Buddhism is the predominant religion in Thailand, with 94.5% of the population adhering to it, according to the 2015 national census.
The film screening program for the dead is believed to solace the departed souls, allowing them to feel satisfied and icing their restoration.
