On Friday, the Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra described the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu as a genocidal responsible person who practices barbarism in Gaza.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress general secretary, criticized Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza during her comment on Wednesday after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to the US Congress. He was welcomed by Speaker of House Mike Johnson and other Republicans who had arranged for his address. Both sides gave a standing ovation to Netanyahu.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Congress minister came down heavily on Israel. She said that mere condemnations of the acts against the civilians, including parents, healthcare workers, aid workers, journalists, educators, writers, poets, senior citizens, and countless innocent children being slaughtered day in and day out as a result of this genocide in Gaza, were not enough.
She stated that it is the moral duty of every right-minded individual, including Israeli citizens who oppose hatred and violence, as well as every government worldwide, to condemn the Israeli government’s genocidal actions and compel them to cease. She remarked that these actions are intolerable in a world that claims to uphold civility and morality. Instead, we behold an alarming image of the Israeli prime minister being given a standing ovation at the United States Congress.
Priyanka found fault with the Israeli leader’s characterization of the conflict as “a clash between barbarism and civilization”. She stated that it is, in fact, Netanyahu and his government who are acting barbarically. Priyanka denounced their support by the West calling it shameful.
This is not the first time Priyanka has condemned Israel’s actions. Back in February, she argued that the international community’s inaction in Gaza would be remembered as a profound shame for humanity and a pivotal moment in history.
She criticized the global indifference to the genocide happening with impunity, pointing out the severe consequences of ignoring the merciless slaughter of innocent children, turning a blind eye to a nation in desperate need, and allowing hospitals to be bombed while doctors and patients suffer. She also condemned the support for an oppressive regime through port access, funding, and arms, describing these actions as setting a horrifying precedent.
She added that all standards of justice, humanity, and international decency have been violated. She warned that humanity is suffering greatly, and unless we speak out and stand up for what’s right now, we will all face an unimaginable cost in the future.
Even on New Year’s, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra emphasized that as people celebrate and wish for love, peace, laughter, and goodness in their lives, it is crucial to remember the people in Gaza facing an unjust and inhumane assault on their rights to life, dignity, and freedom. She pointed out that while most of the people celebrate, children in the Gaza Strip are being brutally killed. Meanwhile, global leaders keep quiet to maintain their need for power and greed above sorting out this crisis.
She emphasized that countless ordinary people are speaking out against the terrible violence in Gaza, and their courage offers hope for a better future. She encouraged others to join these brave voices and contribute to the movement for change.
According to Palestinian health authorities, Israel’s ground and air war in Gaza has killed over 39,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom are civilians, and caused the majority of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents to abandon their homes. As of Thursday, July 25, the official Health Ministry total for Palestinian dead was 39,175.
