Earlier today, West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose hit out at the Mamata Banerjee government in the state, saying the government has “let down” the women of the state.
You are the guardian of the Constitution, this is not your first statement: Jha
In response, Manoj Jha asked the governor, “Is this happening only in Bengal? Everyone is outraged by what is happening, but you are the custodians of the Constitution. This is not your first statement.
Questioning Governor Bose, the RJD MP said, “You (Governor Bose) are damaging the dignity of your chair. No one is stopping you from expressing empathy, but we’ve never seen you do that before… One-sided opposition is not good. Don’t make way for politics in such a heinous crime.”
Democracy is on the decline in West Bengal: Bose
Governor Bose on Monday met women leaders and doctors at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and assured them that he stands with them in making West Bengal safe for women. In his address, the Governor lashed out at the state government and said that democracy is on the decline in the state.
“Democracy is collapsing in West Bengal. It can’t go. Today we have to take a pledge to protect our daughters or sisters… This society should become a place where women feel happy and safe. We have failed in our mission for our sisters. At least that’s what a civilized society should do. This society should be a place where women are happy. It’s time for all men to improve themselves.”
“It’s time to come together,” the governor said.
“It’s time to come together, as I said coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress and working together is success. As Governor, it is my responsibility to serve the people. I know the goal is far away, the road is long but the step continues. We will definitely reach our destination, I am with you, I am for you.”
