“I have faith in God is in justice”: Deputy CM Shivakumar
“In the case of disproportionate assets, whatever the verdict of the court, I will accept it as God’s will,” said Shivakumar while answering questions from the media near Hebbanahalli in the district of Hassan after inspecting the Yettinahole project works.
When asked about the case in which the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made a request to the Supreme Court seeking permission to investigate the disproportionate assets case, he said, “I have faith in God is in justice”.
CBI questioned the decision of the Congress government to withdraw the consent given to investigate the disproportionate case against Shivakumar by the Yediyurappa-led BJP government on September 25, 2019. MP Basanagouda Patil Yatnal had also filed a petition in this regard.
The bench headed by Justice Somashekar reserved the matter for an order. The case is listed for today and the court is expected to give its decision in the evening.
Asked about the complaint filed against CM Siddaramaiah’s wife, Shivakumar said, “I don’t know why everyone is attacking CM Siddaramaiah. Nothing will happen to him. BJP itself has given the land as compensation for the lost land . The CM did not influence anything and did not sign any document.
When asked about Union Minister H.D Kumaraswamy’s claims regarding land designation, he replied, “I will not answer the copy, only the original”.
Shivakumar on Yettnahole Lift Iriragartion Project
Talking about the Yettinahole Lift Irrigation Project, Shivakumar said, “On Wednesday evening, a trial run of the Yettinahole Lift Irrigation Project was conducted. This project will benefit 7.5 million people in seven districts, including parts of Tumakuru, Chikkaballapur and Ramanagara.
Currently 550 cusecs of water are being pumped. In the future, six times this amount will be pumped to the Vanivilas reservoir (Marikanive). “At the end of the monsoon, we will remove a certain amount of water. This project proves that the Congress government will keep its promises,” he said. “There is a problem with the acquisition of land by the forest department, which will be resolved as soon as possible. Alternative land has already been given to the forest department in many places,” he added. “This is one of the ambitious projects of our government.
All parliamentarians and representatives of the respective districts will be invited to the inauguration. A grand opening event will be held, inviting thousands of people to attend. Instead of bringing everyone together in one place, the program will be organized to launch the project in key areas. The event will be broadcast live. Many people criticized this project, but today the criticism has fallen and all that remains is to work. “All departments and representatives of all parties that have supported this project will be invited,” he said.
“From the workers who dug the ground to the engineers, everyone did a great job. The water circulates in a tunnel about one and a half kilometers long. The farmers cooperate by giving up their land. We have to be ours gratitude to all. “The date of the inauguration will be decided after discussion with the Prime Minister,” he said. “While I inspected the work on Wednesday night in the dark, I could not observe everything properly. So I stayed to inspect again. I also gave advice to the managers. We discussed the organization of the inauguration and where it should be held,” he said.
