The 17th PL game for the Reds at home went awful. Including this game, United have now conceded 12 goals in their 5 games. Liverpool played the game with the most goals of the season, Man City slipped to 7th position for the first time in the last 10 years.
Day 1 Matches
The first day of the gameweek in the PL consisted of a lot of exciting games like Man City vs. Aston Villa, Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace, and many more. People are rooting for the matchday as the top 4 race is intense at the moment.
The early kick-off Pep Guardiola vs. Unai Emery was predicted to be a turning point for City’s campaign, but Villa did not let their opponent breathe. They attacked from the first minute of the game and almost scored a goal. Villa took the lead in the 16th minute with a brilliant pass by Tielemans and then an assist by Rogers and a goal by Duran. In the second half, Morgan Rogers scored again to lead by 2-0 and made the City players lose hope early. The game ended in a 2-1 score by Foden’s goal in the additional minutes.
Nottingham defeated Brentford 2-0 with Aina and Elanga’s goals. Brentford mostly dominated the possession but couldn’t bury the big chances.
Newcastle vs. Ipswich ended in a 4-0 win for the Magpies, which means Ipswich will have to fight against the relegation spots in PL .
Brighton managed to draw the game against West Ham, although they trailed for a long time. Mohammed Kudus showed his unrivaled skills, and the Seagulls away from home got 1 point.
Finally, the last game, Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace, was a goal galore; Gabriel Jesus finally found his goal-scoring form back. Without Eze, Palace tried to play some pragmatic football but still scored an early equalizer. For the Arsenal fans, there are some mixed feelings as the main man, Saka, went out early due to a hamstring injury. Arsenal won 5-1.
Day 2 Matches
The first two games on the second day in GW 17 in Premier League were goalless and were upsetting for the clubs. Chelsea is going to challenge Liverpool; hence, a win was their utmost need. Manchester United, on the other hand, lost their home game to Bournemouth, who have defeated both City and Arsenal this season.
In the Everton vs Chelsea match, the London club kept 75% possession and made 3 big chances, but it could not help them get a goal. Even after playing 400 more passes than Everton, the Chels could not get 3 points from this crucial game. Cole Palmer and Jackson were predicted to thrive in this match, but the Everton low block worked well.
Southampton and Fulham too ended in a draw. After sacking their manager, Southampton want to survive the relegation in PL, and these small one-pointers are crucial for that.
Wolves won 3-0 against Leicester City; the game was an important one for both of them, as the Wolverhampton Wanderers are just 2 points behind Leicester. Both of them are trying to get far from the relegation positions.
Manchester United faced a disgraceful 3-0 loss to Bournemouth. Amorim’s 11 kept on attacking for the whole game but couldn’t score even once. With 2.26 XG, the Reds failed to score, whereas their opponent scored thrice with just 1.24 XG. 23 total shots and 11 corners; all these chances were wasted by poor finishing. Players like Bruno and Amad could have scored more than once. One penalty and two deserved goals took Bournemouth to 5th place in the PL Table.
The Liverpool Spurs game was arguably the best game of the season of Premier League so far. The neutrals have enjoyed this match thoroughly; Liverpool are still the table toppers. Mo Salah and Luis Diaz scored two goals each, and with an XG of 4.60, they outperformed. Spurs too took advantage of their pace but could score only 3. Spurs’ makeshift defense was too weak to hold such a massive attack. The game ended in a 6-3 win for Liverpool.
