Balesh Kumar, an ex-Navy employee has been living under the nose of the law by using a fake identity after faking his death for choking a man to death and setting two people on fire in 2004.
The former Navy employee who goes by the name of Balesh Kumar was arrested at the age of 60 by the Delhi Police who received information about a man who was wanted for a murder in Delhi’s Bawana locality which occurred in 2004. He was residing in Najafgarh, a town 30 km away. To hide from the authorities, he changed his name to Aman Singh and started working as a property dealer.
When the authorities took hold of Balesh and commenced the investigation which confirmed their suspicions with some spine-chilling details being revealed.
The Formerly Dead Ex-Navy Man and His Crime
Balesh Kumar, a man originally from Haryana, studied till class 8 and joined the Navy in 1981. However, he retired in 1996 and started a transport business while living in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar with his family.
He told the authorities that he and his brother Sunder Lal choked the life out of a person named Rajesh at Delhi’s Samaypur Badli in 2004. He said that he, his brother, and Rajesh were drinking when an altercation broke out between them over an alleged extramarital affair between him and Rajesh’s wife. The argument quickly turned into a scuffle while both were under the influence of alcohol which resulted in Balesh choking Rajesh to death.
After the murder of Rajesh, Balesh quickly plotted an escape plan to prevent being captured by the authorities and being persecuted. He hired two laborers from Bihar, Mukesh and Manoj who were from Samaypur Badli, Delhi. Balesh promised the two laborers to work and took them to Rajasthan in a truck that belonged to Balesh’s brother, Sunder Lal. Balesh took the two laborers to Jodhpur where he allegedly set the truck on fire with the laborers trapped inside which resulted in their death. Balesh also left his documents inside to make it seem like one of the men who died inside was Balesh.
With luck being in his favor, one of the bodies was identified to be of Balesh while the other one was not identified. The bodies were badly burned for forensics to analyze the corpse and determine whether it was actually Balesh or not.
When the murder case of Rajesh came up in court, police said that Sunder Lal had been arrested with it being announced that Balesh Kumar died in the truck fire.
Since Balesh was an ex-navy man. His pension was provided to his wife instead including the life insurance money. The insurance for the truck was also provided to Balesh’s wife. It was a well-thought-out crime with a great cover-up which made it quite the task for the truth to be unfolded but his luck ran out.
Delhi Police have now asked the Jodhpur Police to reopen the case of the truck that belonged to Sunder Lal in which Balesh Kumar was believed to be dead. The new revelations have let them know that Balesh never died in the truck. Instead, it was a clever yet inhumane plan to keep Balesh out of prison and they succeeded with it till they ran out of luck.
