ISRO had a great victory on Saturday after it was able to successfully launch the test vehicle of Mission Gaganyaan.Mission Gaganyaan is a manned mission of sending astronauts into space.
Saturday Morning witnessed lot of drama as the vehicle launch was first aborted due to technical reasons but later the scientists were able to successfully launch the vehicle.
The liquid propelled single stage test vehicle TV-D1 Lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre carrying a homegrown system that is considered crucial for the safety of astronauts.
This was a test experiment so that the Astronauts are able to check the safety measures.The test had successfully validated the motors that will be used in the mission.And the ISRO Chief SSomnath declared the mission as successful.
What is Gaganyaan Mission?
Gaganyaan Mission is named after the sanskrit word which means craft or vehicle to the sky. Gaganyaan project has been developed at the cost 90 Billion.If this mission succeeds then India will become the 4th country to send human into space after the countries of Soviet Union,US and China.
After the success of this test India has planned to send a humanoid into space called vyommitra .The humanoid was unveiled by ISRO in 2019.Indian Astronaut had spent 21 days in space on a Russian spacecraft in 1984.
Apart from D1 test Isro has also planned three more tests D2,D3 And D4.Gaganyaan mission is set to launch astronauts into 400 km orbit of the space and to bring them abck safely via sea landing.According to ISRO the rocket is single stage liquid rocket for the abort mission.
The payload consists of Crew module and crew escape system.The crew module is the place where astronauts will be contained in earth like conditions during the mission Gaganyaan.This is under developmental stages by ISRO. The crew module will land in Bay of bengal and will be recovered by Indian Navy.
