Police suspect the cause stems from a property resentment and a deep favoritism for the sister.

NEW DELHI: Arjun Tanwar, a student in his second year at the University of Delhi, was taken into custody after being charged with murdering his father, a retired military officer, mother and sister at their home in North Delhi’s Neb Sarai.
The couple was believed to be married on that day and Tanwar committed the murders on their anniversary. To deceive law enforcement, he exited the home for an early jog, and when he came back, he raised the alarm about a homicide in his family.
Police’s Statement:
As per police, the alleged murderer Arjun has confessed to having tensions with his father, 51 year old Rajesh Kumar, who he believed wanted to bequeath the family assets to his sister Kavita, 23, also a beneficiary. This in addition to alleged family embarrassment and disrespect for him pursuing a professional boxing career are all factors to why Arjun turned to crime, police further informed.
Arjun beat the call at 6.53am saying that his family was dead inside their house. It was Arjun’s father’s middle name. Police investigation showed that armless killers cut every victim’s neck and slit at least 8 stab wounds on their bodies.
After the violence, the 20-year-old carried on with his daily routine.
Rajesh’s corpse was recovered from one of the rooms up the stairs while his wife Komal aged 46 years, and their daughter Kavita were discovered in separate bedrooms on the ground level. The relatives of the victims said that there was some cloth tied around the victims’ necks to stop blood.
While Ankit Chauhan placed a DCP (South) team through multiple examinations of CCTV footage, no signs of a forced entry or a robbery were recorded. The interior of the family home is reported to have remained undisturbed. “When we inquired from Arjun, he began shifting and weaving words out, and there were various discrepancies,” joint Commissioner southern region, Sanjay Kumar Jain said, stating additionally that Arjun owned up to committing the foul deed.
The team that cracked the case was formed under Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhinendra Jain and was headed by inspector AATS, Umesh Kumar.
During interrogation, Arjun confessed to having planned his family’s assassination about a week ago. He decided to kill them on Wednesday, their wedding anniversary, which he felt was the perfect time since he expected no one would suspect him.
What actually went Behind?
To build a false scenario, he left his residence for his daily morning 5.30 am jog.
Furthermore, he informed the police that the first one to die was his sister followed by the father and when his mother went into the toilet and came back he also had to kill his mother. The sister and the mother are believed to have tried to protect themselves as they had marks of their struggle while he murdered his father while he was asleep.
An army knife of his father was used by him to kill all three.
“…he said he cut their throats because he knew it was the best way to stop any screaming from coming out of them.
So blinded with rage against his father that he impaled the head with the knife hollow,” say police.
With respect to his daily routine and his studies, Mr. Arjun made several attempts and quite unsuccessfully to understand why such a practice came from his father. He was also unhappy that his parents favored his sister, who was quite successful in her studies, doing her master’s degree.
The accused was also a student studying BA Political Science from a College of Delhi University. He had trained in boxing and represented Delhi in boxing competitions obtaining a silver medal. He attended and completed his studies at Army Public School Dhaula Kuan.
