Eklavya Sanskritik Samiti presented a 90-minute production of “Ek Ruka Hua Faisla,” a Hindi translation of Reginald Rose’s “Twelve Angry Men,” at Bhartendu Natya Academy in this city on Saturday. Now it is time for a remake of the film in the movie business.
Ek Ruka Hua Faisla was a hit back then and is now coming back with a remake by veteran director Darshan Ashwin Trivedi.
The producers have revealed that veteran director Darshan Ashwin Trivedi will be remaking the critically acclaimed 1986 legal drama Ek Ruka Hua Faisla, directed by Basu Chatterjee.
A press release states that Atul Kulkarni, Suvinder Vikki, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Neeraj Kabi, Divya Dutta, Vineet Kumar, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Kani Kusruti, Hemant Kher, Samvedna Suwalkar, Luke Kenny, and Manu Rishi Chaddha are among the ensemble cast members of the upcoming movie.
The hardest thing, according to Trivedi, was approaching “Ek Ruka Hua Faisla” from a different angle. Chatterjee adapted “12 Angry Men,” a 1957 American film directed by Sidney Lumet, into Hindi. Reginald Rose’s teleplay of the same name from 1954 served as the inspiration for the first film. Experts in law helped write the story. That we were able to work on the appropriate strategy makes me happy. Our ensemble of actors is incredibly powerful. “I am excited about the movie,” expressed the director, who is well-known for the Gujarati films “Mara Pappa Superhero” and “Mrugtrushna.”
“After talking with legal scholars, the story was developed,” he went on. I am pleased that we were able to work on the right approach. We have assembled an exceptionally talented group of actors. I look forward to seeing the film.”
Producer Anil Mevada explained, “I got fascinated with the idea of recreating this film for today’s audience after watching ‘Ek Ruka Hua Faisla.'” Mevada noted that the story had changed and that the sensibilities of the time were taken into consideration.
He went on, “I am excited about the group of talented people we have on board and how the script is coming together.” Our society will be equally represented in our film. We have added women to the commission in place of the “only male jury” members from Basu Chatterjee’s movie.”
Producer Chef Pranav Joshi said, “I jumped in with Anil as soon as he shared the idea to remake the cult film Ek Ruka Hua Faisla and got in touch with Suryaveer and Darshan to set up this remake.” The script is coming together beautifully, and all twelve actors are excellent in their roles. I am ecstatic beyond measure.”
The narrative of the story begins in a courtroom, where a young man from a city slum is charged with stabbing his father to death. Following the conclusion of the closing arguments before the judge, the jury’s duty is to decide if the boy is guilty of murder, a felony for which the death penalty is mandated.
Upon entering the jury discussion room, it becomes evident that every juror—aside from juror Number 8 (K.K. Raina)—has already reached a verdict on the boy’s guilt and that they intend to deliver it swiftly, without deliberation. The other jurors find his vote annoying.
