.An Indian descent was discovered dead at Purdue University in Indiana in a distressing series of events, while another Indian IT student was viciously attacked close to his Chicago home.
Eckhard Groll, the chair of mechanical engineering, said on Tuesday that Sameer Kamath, 23, a doctorate Indian descent in the field, was discovered dead in Warren County on Monday, according to The Purdue Exponent, an independent news outlet.
The coroner’s office revealed that the 23-year-old student, named as Sameer Kamath, was a US citizen and had graduated from Purdue University with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering in August 2023.
After Neel Acharya, he is the second Indian-American student at Purdue University to pass away under suspicious circumstances in recent weeks.
Kamath’s body was discovered on Monday, February 5, at Crow’s Grove Nature Preserve at approximately 5:00 p.m. (local time). The Niches Land Trust, situated in Williamsport at 3300 North Warren County Road 50 West, includes the Crow’s Grove Nature Preserve.
On Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 6), Warren County Coroner Justin Brummett issued a news release announcing the death of the Indian-American student.

After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Kamath enrolled at Purdue in 2021.
His LinkedIn profile stated that he was scheduled to complete the PhD program in 2025.
