Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta’s daughter Ira Khan and her longtime boyfriend celebrity fitness coach Nupur Shikhare’s wedding has recently become the talk of the town with everyone buzzing with joy and excitement to see the couple finally tie the knot. According to sources the couple it set to tie the knot in traditional Maharashtrian-style festivities on January 3rd when the pair will register their marriage.
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Aamir Khan’s sister told the people that the mehendi function was held at the groom’s house, with both the families decked in traditional Maharashtrian outfits sporting navari saree and nath’s on their noses. She also went on to talk about the upcoming wedding festivities and how the family is preparing for them, adding that the preparations for sangeet are going great, Aamir Khan is learning to sing for his daughter’s wedding festivities.
The couple are said to be registering their marriage on January 3rd with the wedding celebrations continuing in Udaipur among family and friends but there will be no traditional Maharashtrian wedding ceremony. The wedding will be an amalgamation of cultures, various music and joyous celebrations.
According to reports, Aamir Khan’s house in Bandra has been decked up in lights and the festivities are in full swing ahead of the couple’s big day. Reena Dutta, Aamir’s ex-wife, and Ira’s mother, also has her home decorated with lights and flowers in preparation for her daughter’s big day. Meanwhile, Ira has kept her fans updated through her social media stories, taking to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes pictures from her wedding celebrations, may it be sharing a picture of herself wearing a “bride-to-be” headband or pictures from her “kelvan” ceremony. The “kelvan” is a Maharashtrian wedding ritual, paying tribute to Nupur’s Maharashtrian heritage.
Aamir Khan, while speaking about his daughter’s wedding got candid and said he is sure he will get emotional and cry at the ceremony. He adds that there have been plenty of discussions done already amongst family, to ensure that people take care of him as well as he is going to be extremely emotional, he says “I am very emotional, I cannot control my smile nor my tears”.
The couple are cementing their fourth year of relationship by making things permanent, the pair met during the pandemic. Nupur is a celebrity fitness coach and has guided many celebrities in their fitness journeys, his clientele includes Miss Universe Sushmita Sen and even his fiancé’s father Aamir Khan. The pair met during lockdown when Ira came to live with her father and Nupur who was coaching Aamir at that time. The pair initially had a fitness-focused relationship before falling into a loving companionship. In 2021 the pair became Instagram official, when Ira decided to share heartwarming pictures of the two captioning them “It is an honour to make promises with and to you” She also called Nupur “dreamy” lovingly. The families accepted the two very seamlessly, with Nupur being a part of the Khan family festivities and often being spotted in the pictures. In September of 2021, Nupur proposed to Ira and their engagement news broke two months later beginning this beautiful journey of marital bliss.
