The police in Karnataka are looking into the murder of 33-year-old Renuka Swamy, allegedly involving Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, his second wife Pavithra Gowda, and others linked to the case. Darshan and Pavithra Gowda have not been cooperating with the investigation, as per sources.
Darshan, the famous Kannada actor, got arrested on Wednesday for a murder case in Bengaluru. He was arrested for the murder of a 33-year-old man named Renukaswamy from Chitradunga, Bengaluru.
Some scary stuff came out about the murder case with Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa. A person named Renukaswamy from Chitradurga, Karnataka, was discovered dead in Bengaluru, about 200 kilometres away, on Sunday. The actor, also known as ‘Challenging Star,’ got arrested at his farmhouse in Mysuru on Tuesday while the police investigated his involvement in the murder.
Who is Pavithra Gowda?
Pavithra Gowda has acted in movies and TV shows. She acted in the movie Chatrigalu Saar Chatrigalu in 2013, in Agamya in the year 2016, and Preethi Kithabu also in 2016. She started her Kannada film career in 2016 with 54321. She is also into fashion designing now. She is actor Darshan’s girlfriend.
Pavithra Gowda, who is actor Darshan’s girlfriend and 11 of the actor’s companions were captured. Ms. Gowda is said to be the main suspect, and Darshan is the second suspect in the case.
Story behind the Murder of Renuka Swamy
Renuka Swamy supposedly said inappropriate things on Ms. Gowda’s social media, blaming her for problems between Thoogudeepa and his wife. She then encouraged Darshan to take action against him, as per police sources reported by news agency PTI.
Darshan asked Raghu, who runs his fan club in Chitradurga, to find out about Renuka Swamy. The victim’s wife claimed that Raghu was the one who picked him up from near their home.
According to the story, he was reportedly taken and transported to a shed in Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru. On the day of the event, Darshan hit Renuka Swamy with a belt. When Renukaswamy fainted, Darshan’s partners beat him with sticks. They then threw him against a wall, causing severe bone fractures that led to his death. After the crime, his body was left in a storm-water drain in the Kamakshipalya area of the city, as per police sources. Dogs were biting at his body when a food delivery person saw it and told the police.
Non-Cooperation towards the police by Actor Darshan and Ms. Gowda
The Karnataka Police told the court that Darshan and Ms. Gowda are not helping and keeping secrets, as per news agency IANS. They are also looking for four more people involved.
A request for custody was presented to the court on Tuesday, mentioning Darshan and Pavithra’s lack of cooperation. The court has decided to keep the accused in police custody for six days to assist in the ongoing investigation.
People Involved in the Murder
The investigation has shown that 17 people are connected to Renuka Swamy’s murder. Among them, Jagadish alias Jagga, Anu, Ravi, and Raju are currently missing, and the police are working to find and arrest them.
Pavithra Gowda, who is 33 years old, is considered the main person responsible, while the 47-year-old actor Darshan, also known as D Boss, is named as the second person involved. Other people linked to the case are Putta Swamy alias Pavan K., Raghavendra, Nandeesha, Vinay, Nagaraju, Lakshmana, Deepak, Pradoosh, Karthik alias Kappe, Keshavamurthy, and Nikhil Nayak.
Darshan’s fans are shocked that their favourite actor might be involved in such a terrible crime. They have been gathering at police stations where the actor is being questioned, causing the police to use force to control them.
The police have accused them under IPC Section 302 for murder and Section 201 for hiding evidence and providing false information to protect the offender.
Regarding Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa’s arrest, Karnataka’s Health Minister Dinesh mentioned that the police are doing their job, and the public should trust the police. He added that he did not see any external influence in these cases. Since it is a murder case, there should not be any pressure on the investigation. If he is guilty, he should face the consequences, and if not, let the court decide. He further continued by mentioning that it is a sad situation for the Kannada film industry.
The police have been given permission to act against Darshan and others involved as per the law, stated the state’s Home Minister G Parameshwara.
The President of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), N M Suresh, stated that they would address the actor’s situation after consulting with the artists’ union, potentially following the police’s filing of charges in the case.
