The Taliban islamic nationalists composed of peasant farmers and men studying Islam in Afghan and Pakistani madrasas or religious schools. The main motive of Taliban is to interpret Quran’s jurisprudence and instructions which meant merciless rules on women , political opponents of any type and religious minorities
The Global report said , Women’s life in Taliban ruled Afghanistan has become even more limited forbidding from showcasing their face , voice in public neither through singing nor public speaking . The Ministry for propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice which was formed after the Taliban’s takeover released the legislation on Wednesday
Since the takeover this is the first official statement of Virtue law in Afghanistan encompassing rules and regulations to be followed in daily public life in a 114 page document ,associated press reported.
On Thursday ,Ministry spokesperson Maulvi Abdul ghafer Farooq accredited the new policies and assured that this will be of great help to eliminate vice and promote Virtue .The laws were endorsed by supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada the day before.
Details of the Document
Article 13 , addresses women on how to behave and dress in public. They are now not allowed to song recite or read aloud in public saying that their voices are intimate and hence should not be Heard .
women are not allowed to even look men who aren’t their blood or married Violations of these rules may lead to warnings , property confiscation and detention for at least 3 days.
The Taliban’s takeover led to severe restrictions on women’s freedom. In 2022 girls were even detained to go school after 6th grade ,detained women from working in any NGOIn addition to restriction on women , men were also forbidden to shave beard and require proper adherence to prayer and religious fast. An Afghan women who was just a year back to compete law degree was forced to forgo her learning .
The drivers must not transport women without a male guardian and both drivers and passengers should do prayers at specific times. The media in Afghanistan is banned from publishing images of living beings .
Criticism
Afghans , especially women, oppose the new restrictions.The UN report also expressed their disapproval against the new rules which created intimidation and a climate of fear among Afghans.The Taliban’s dismissed the UN report.
