After Alia Bhatt’s liaison with The House of Gucci where the actress was seen sporting tailored ‘office-siren’ looks, she is back to her Bollywood roots with a Manish Malhotra piece-this time in the trending colour of the season.
The ‘Rocky aur Rani’ actress was recently seen in a custom olive green velvet Manish Malhotra saree with scalloped blouse in antique gold, looking as ethereal as ever. Elaborately bedecked with sequins and golden patti, the saree boasted of regal allure. With a deft touch, she gracefully draped her pallu, letting it fall from her shoulder. Taar embroidery, sequin embellishments, a deep back design, and a plunging neckline of the blouse all worked well together, showcasing excellent designing and craftsmanship. Bhatt remained loyal to the designer for the rest of the look too with Manish Malhotra jewellery- beautiful Russian Emerald Earrings displaying subtle sophistication.
The New Cherry Red?
With Olive green pieces being on the rife for the Autumn/Winter 2024 runways, it has emerged as the new colour of the season, replacing cherry red that had its fair share of domination during the Spring/Summer 2024 runways. The earthy colour has taken over the world by storm with luxury houses’ to fashion brands’ vibrant imaginations intertwining with olive green.
Chloé and Hermès were among the shows that used a sparse amount of the green. Whereas designers for Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Burberry, Fendi, Saint Laurent, and Ferragamo made sure that the earthy tone was the highlight on the runways. From head to toe or just a little bit here and there, the message was loud and clear: olive green has dominated the season.
Its Alia Bhatt’s World (and we’re just living in it)
Manish Malhotra’s olive green piece is a merger of Indian and global fashion. It is a celebration of the diaspora of Indian fashion on an universal landscape. Though olive green has emerged as a new trend, this is not Bhatt’s first rendezvous with the colour. The actress was previously seen in green ensembles as she had worn an olive green peplum dress for the “Heart of Stone” promotions in ‘Tudum’. She had also dolled up in an olive green full-sleeve dress with an emerald and diamond necklace before.
While the colour of her saree added the much needed 21st-century swirl, velvet on the other hand has remained a loyal companion in the fashion industry for ages now. The ‘old-money’ exuding fabric with its soft touch and rich sheen, weaves a narrative of elegance that transcends time and trends.
From velvet dresses for flapper girls to rock stars in velvet in the 1960s, to opulent ball gowns and sleek blazers now, velvet remains a symbol of luxury and refinement, right into the heart of contemporary fashion.
Alia Bhatt herself had adorned the six yards of elegance in velvet, a few days ago for ‘‘Poacher’s’’ premier in London. The black velvet Sabyasachi saree with golden zari and embroidery served as the perfect classic yet bold statement-ensemble for the special day.
The new mom has been serving continuous looks lately, and her gracing a Manish Malhotra piece with nuance and beauty is once again a testament to the actor’s breathtaking and relevant fashion choices.
