Kaala Teeka, is considered to protect you from the evil-eye. This has basically been followed as a ritual or a custom among the Indian families. Generally, mothers or any elders in a family have been said to apply the kajal to their children or younger members in a family.

The word kaala means black and teeka means a mark or a spot. It is made up of soot, wax and other natural ingredients.

People use this and apply it on the person’s forehead or behind the ear of a person. This has been practiced in many parts of India, especially, in the Northern parts of India.

Well, this method or customs have been followed for thousands of years in our country, especially in the Northern regions.

Well, this Kaala Teeka, has been, in a general case, applied to infants or newborns, because they have been said to be vulnerable to evil eye. The custom has been rooted in Hindu mythology.
