Alia Bhatt, the youngest daughter of the Indian film director Mahesh Bhatt, has been in the limelight even before her debut film in Bollywood. The actress bagged her first role in the 2012 Karan Johar film “Student of the Year” alongside her two co-stars, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. She soon gained popularity after the film, but not for very good reasons. Being the child of a renowned film personality in India, she was assumed to be another product of nepotism and had to face serious criticism from fans for her acting.

Although the actress had to face the audience’s trolling and unhappy response, she kept working. She went on to make smart strategic moves, choosing to work in films that were entertaining and mainstream, ensuring the rise of her fanbase. This led to a massive comeback with her outstanding performance in the 2014 hit film “Highway” where she starred alongside the talented actor Randeep Hooda.

Alia Bhatt’s milestones

It would not be wrong if she had to be considered the youngest female Bollywood superstar. In the post-Covid era when the industry was still trying to get back to its full glory after taking a serious hit due to the pandemic, she became the only actress with a hattrick, that is, three movies earning over Rs. 100 crore at the domestic box office. Co-incidentally, her husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor is the first male actor to achieve the same milestone as Alia Bhatt.

Alia And Her Theatrical Roles

In the year 2019, Alia Bhatt had two film releases, one being a hit in the form of “Gully Boy” while the other film “Kalank” was a major disappointment to the audience. She has been a part of several films to date, one of them being her first theatrical release “Gangubai Kathiawadi” which took the internet by storm.

Despite the initial doubt revolving around the story and subject of the film, it surprised everyone by opening at Rs. 10.50 crores. Director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali handled the entire film beautifully while Alia Bhatt mesmerized everyone with her strong performance. It went on to earn Rs. 129.10 crores at the box office. The actress received praise around the globe for her new aura and fierce performance as Gangubai.

This was followed by the film “Brahmastra” in 2022. Although the film faced a lot of negativity from social media users and critics, it had a strong start due to its popularity. Alia Bhatt acted in this film along with her co-star and husband Ranbir Kapoor. The excitement and anticipation people had for this film overshadowed all the trolling. The film ended up earning an estimated total of Rs. 257.44 crores at the Indian box office. This success ensured equal excitement and a start for the upcoming part of the film.

Alia’s only theatrical release in the year 2023 was her film with Ranveer Singh “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani”. The film held a strong message for its audience but also stuck to the root of mainstream Bollywood’s vibrant grandeur. It did not have quite a strong start, initially collecting Rs. 11.10 crores. But as soon as the film gained popularity and its word spread among the masses, its box office earnings leapt.

Unlike most films, it did not face any drops on weekdays, which proved the craze it caused among the people. Alia mesmerized in the beautiful sarees and nailed her performance as Rani, the strong female star of the show. The film went on to collect Rs. 153.60 crore.
