All Eyes On Rafah: The Viral Image

A post with an AI- generated image saying “ All eyes on Rafah ” has been seen by over 44 million Instagram stoners since Monday following an Israeli attack that killed scores of Palestinians in a exile camp in the Rafah megacity of Gaza.Social media hashtags like”#AllEyesOnRafah” and”#RafahOnFire” are trended.

The image paints a picture of long rows of tents a large barren desert with mountains in the background, representing the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who sought retreat in these tents during the Israeli military operations against Hamas.

After the morning of Israel’s war on Gaza, Israel began bombing it from the north and moved down, displacing Palestinians from their homes as they fled south to seek sanctum.By February, about half of Gaza’s 2.3 million population had been pushed into Rafah when Israel said it planned to launch a ground operation on Rafah, claiming Hamas four brigades, the Palestinian group that governs the Strip, were there.

The most recent attacks by Israel that claimed the lives of at least 45 Palestinians, and 200 others were injured in the attack and multitudinous of them children in tents sheltering refugees in Rafah, Gaza have been met with lots of criticism from multitudinous countries and moral rights organizations. At least eight missiles targeted the Tal as-Sultan area, which is described as a ‘safe zone’ in northwestern Rafah muncipalicity, according to Al Jazeera’s witnesses.Amid widespread condemnation, Israel also denied targetting the Rafah camp and said that the damage was caused by a secondary fire caused by a rocket hitting a Hamas weapons facility.

The watchword seems to have stemmed from a comment by Rick Peeperkorn, director of the World Health Organization’s Office of the engrossed Palestinian homes, who in February said” All eyes are on Rafah” days after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered an evacuation plan be created for the megacity ahead of planned attacks to count what Netanyahu claims are the last remaining citadels of the militant group Hamas.

Other support groups that have embraced this watchword include Save the Children, Oxfam, Americans for Justice in Palestine Action, Jewish Voice for Peace and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. On the social media platform, the use of the hashtag #AllEyesOnRafah has been used in over posts and millions of views. It was also trending on Instagram on Tuesday and there were nearly one Lakh fresh posts on the platform.

It entered a lot of support across the world; Indian celebrities like Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Aly Goni, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Tripti Dimri,etc. shared the same picture of “ All Eyes on Rafah ” on their Instagram stories. Encyclopedically, other personalities who have spoken out for Rafah include Australian justice player Travis Head, British songster Leigh- Anne Pinnock, model Bella Hadid, and actresses Saoirse- Monica Jackson and Susan Sarandon.

While world focuses on events in Gaza, the All Eyes on Rafah continues to gain instigation, advocacy and stimulant for the struggle of Palestinians.
