After a massive win for the Hockey team and an excellent throw from our Golden Boy Neeraj Chopra, who grabs the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics its time for Aman Sehrawat to win the bronze medal.
This time Neeraj falls shorts by just 1.87m and grabs the silver. While the Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem breaks the record by throwing 92.97m and he was the gold medalist this time. Neeraj best throw was 89.97m.
On the other hand, the men’s hockey team wins back-to-back bronze medal. This time they win by beating Spain by 2-1. Despite being losing to Germany, they cannot win Gold or Silver but the team can secure a bronze medal. Interestingly the match was the last and final match for our goalkeeper PR Sreejesh
Now its time for Aman Sehrawat to win the bronze for his nation. Aman will face Pureto Rico’s Darian Toi Cruze in the bronze medal match on Friday. He will fight for 57kg category. On the other hand, Anshu Malik lost her women’s 57kg in the round of 16.
Also, Vinesh Phogat’s appeal have been accepted by Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) and the hearing is set to take place on 1pm IST in Paris. Thomas Bach, President of International Olympic Committee (IOC) said that he has a certain understanding for Vinsesh Phogat, who has challenged for her disqualification in the Gold Medal match of Olympics. But he also wondered where would one draw the line for consideration in certain situations.
Bach also added, “I must say, I have a certain understating for the wrestler; its clearly a human touch”, he said during an IOC media conference. “Now its appeal in Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS). We will at the end follow the CAS decision. But again, the international wrestling federation, they have to apply their interpretation and their rules also. This is their responsibility”, he added.
Amidst of these, it’s a challenge for Aman Sehrawat to win the first medal for wrestling and to increase the number of medals for him and for his country also. India’s medal tally increased from on Thursday. Though the Indian women’s 4*400m relay came eighth and the men’s heat team are knocked out from the tournament.
