Ranbir Kapoor’s latest movie- Animal is running tremendously strong at the box office, not just in India but also overseas. In just 15 days, the movie has emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film in Australia and Canada. The film has earned 4.65 million dollars in Australia and 6.14 million dollars in Canada. This depicts a picture of immense support from the Indian diaspora living abroad.

Animal crosses Pathaan
In January, Shah Rukh Khan’s mega-blockbuster Pathaan earned 6.05 million dollars in Australia and 4.72 million dollars in Canada. It has dethroned Pathaan to be the highest-grossing film in these countries. Other films that were successful overseas were Jawaan (4.68 Millon), Baahubali 2 (4.5 Millon), and RRR (3.59 million)
Collections in India
Released on 1st December, the film is running strong at the box office in India. On its 17th day, the film has collected 15 crores, which has led it to cross the 500-crore milestone in the country. So far, the film has made a total of 512.94 crores in India. The film had the highest opening for a Hindi film with a total of 54.75 crores leaving behind KGF: Chapter 2- 53.95 crores and War – 51.60 crores. Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan still holds its position as the highest-grossing movie at its opening day- 65.50 crores
Overall, toward the end of the second week, it has made 138.26 crores in the country, which is 58% less compared to its first week’s earnings. Worldwide, the collection has touched 817.36 crores. It has joined the elite club of all-time blockbusters of 2023. Reviews from Critics
On the popular Film review site Rotten Tomatoes, 28% of reviews are positive. The film has an overall score of 4.4 out of 10. Sukanya Verma from Rediff reviewed the film as a dance of the dysfunctional and euphoric medley of feral rage. Puja Awasthi from the Week wrote that the film is the story of a son’s aching desire for his father’s approval. She gave the film 3.5/5 stars
Titas Chowdhury of News18 gave it 3.5 stars and called it dark and loud. He mentioned that Ranbir Kapoor has brought life into the character with a lot of charisma and swag. The film also received support from Ram Gopal Varma
A few critics also gave the film 2 stars calling it all swag and no substance. Shubhra Gupta from the Indian Express gave the film 1.5 stars out of 5 and wrote that Ranbir and Anil Kapoor’s potential has been wasted in the pointless and vile tale. Phuong Le of The Guardian gave 1.5 stars out of 5 and described the film as further sunk into the regressive depths making the vilest protagonist to ever appear on the big screen.

The film deals with a flawed character called Ranvijay Singh Balbir ( Ranbir Kapoor) son of Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor) who gets neglected as a child due to his father’s hectic schedule. The plot revolves around his love for his father and the extent he goes to take revenge for an assassination attempt on his father.
