Apple has launched its first immersive short film, Submerged, designed for the Apple Vision Pro. Directed by Edward Berger, the Oscar winning filmmaker behind All Quiet on the Western Front, the film brings viewers into the heart of a WWII submarine as the crew fights to survive a harrowing torpedo attack.

The director talks about the process of making this Apple immersive film in the official trailer on Apple’s YouTube channel, “Everything we’re doing here is the first time that anyone’s ever done it. When you put on Apple Vision Pro, it does change the way you think about creating a story. It’s a wonderful new medium that just expands the horizon of storytelling. Because you’re not watching a movie anymore, you’re inside the story. It’s going to change the future of filmmaking.”

Despite slow sales in the U.S. and modest international reception, the company is emphasizing Vison Pro as a platform for entertainment, work, and creating new forms of interaction.
