Architecture is known as the mother of all arts, an art form that’s not just pleasing to the eye but also it’s an art piece that serves humanity in all the senses from living to economy to tourism representing history and heritage. As said by Oana Stanescu it should not be self-absorbent it should serve people, it should serve according to the space and need.
Architecture is about presenting different perspectives, and how people see it or talk about it. It cannot solve all the problems alone in this world, it should be recognized as part of a larger system as it is most powerful when it’s recognized like that as mentioned by Oana. How a person looks at the world is through the architecture of that particular side of the world, it gives a different perspective to the view.
Oana stated that while working on different projects within OMA she got to work even with music when Kayne West now known as Ye had to film a shoot for Cannes, she explained how learning from different fields increases knowledge and creativity. It is about creativity, innovation, problem-solving, and much more, these things can be achieved better when architects interact with people from different backgrounds giving them a bit more insight into their ideas, thoughts perspectives, and even problems. That is how one can get a unique solution or idea, this makes it the art in architecture, art of serving people.
The Art in the Architecture.
Knowing the surroundings is one of the most important and necessary parts of architecture, as most people don’t realize what surrounds them or what resources they have and can be used, creating disadvantages to advantages should be how things shall be created, if a city is surrounded with water, instead of thinking it as a drawback or installing roadways waterways shall be used.
Not only this but nowadays, pollution is one of the major concerns affecting the health and lifestyle of people, rather than creating a structure that is sustainable and in it’s creating more carbon emission will be produced why not regenerate the already existing beauties like water bodies to reduce the extreme temperature, trees, and green areas.
The future architects and the current students of architects should bear in mind that they should work on the problems, explore the solutions, and apply them, Oana explains that academia stays conservative rather than addressing the societal challenges and problems it stays rigid and resists taking new ideas.
Mixing nature and art with architecture creates a masterpiece that serves humanity together. It should act for the people, and the public projects, focus more on humanity and serving a community, and solve the problems that arise with time, That is how it will stay relevant as said by Oana Stanescu.
Architecture is beyond erecting a building or making concrete jungles, it’s about living together with nature and each other, solving problems, and not being the problem, it is about knowing more about everything so that everything functions properly together in a society. Working closely with every field be it institutions, residences, commercial spaces, factories, industries, and whatnot, will create a type of architecture that will serve the society with its environment.
