Pollution Situation in Delhi –
The AQI ( Air Quality Index ) of Delhi is not good now a days. It is the time of Diwali , Air pollution increases at this time every year because of the crackers that are burst on Diwali. The AQI of Delhi on Friday is 407 at 06:00 am according to the data of SAFAR ( System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research ).
According to doctor sometimes the AQI in Delhi is as bad as you have smoked 10 cigarettes a day . Experts have warned that it can be worse dur to firecrackers on the occasion of Diwali.
How Artificial Rain Works –
“ Artificial rain ” is a weather modification technique. In this process some substances are mixed in clouds by using Airplanes , Helicopters , Drones etc. Mostly these substance are Silver iodide or Potassium iodide.
These particles works as “ Nuclei ” , water drops can form around them and eventually they become raindrops and start to rain. This process takes approx. 30 minutes , But sometimes it take more then that because it also depends on some more factors.
Artificial rain will depend on these factors –
- Moisture in Clouds – minimum 40% Moisture is required for artificial rain. That’s why according to study 20 and 21 November is selected for it.
- Mediums – like aeroplane , Helicopter or drone etc.
- Material of seeding ( Chemicals )
- Approvals of Authorities
Cost of Artificial Rain –
The Artificial rain will be made on 20 and 21st November , But before that there will be two pilot studies. The Approx expense on them will be 13 Crore rupees. Delhi Government is ready to bear it.
