The Delhi High Court’s ruling to halt Arvind Kejriwal’s bail granted by a lower court is set to be challenged by the petitioner before the Supreme Court on the same day.

In relation to the liquor policy case, the CBI interviewed Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar Jail on Monday and recorded his testimony. The central agency filed an application with a special court on Tuesday, asking for a warrant for Kejriwal’s production. The court eventually granted the request.

Kejriwal may be formally arrested in front of a court as he is currently being held in judicial custody in connection with an Enforcement Directorate case. Even if the Delhi High Court’s hold on Kejriwal’s release is overturned by the Supreme Court, the Chief Minister of Delhi cannot leave Tihar Jail on Wednesday if the CBI captures him and takes him into jail.
High Court’s Aversion on Arvind Kejriwal
Judge Jain said that the proceedings in court had not adequately considered the evidence that the ED had provided against Mr. Kejriwal. “We reject the Delhi High Court’s ruling. In a statement, the AAP declared, “We are going to challenge it in the Superior Court.”
During a news conference, Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Cabinet Minister of Delhi, voiced doubt over the High Court’s ruling and said the AAP’s legal team will consider their options. A panel of the High Court stopped the previous court’s order without even posting it. The High Court was not a source of optimism for me. I believe there was bias on the High Court bench. We’re going to the higher court,” Mr. Bharadwaj declared.

The Delhi excise policy has been under investigation due to claims of inefficiencies and mismanagement in its creation and implementation. The program was abandoned in 2022. The CBI and ED both claim that license holders received excessive benefits as well as that there were some serious irregularities in the way the program was put into practice.
AAP’s Reaction
In a sharp response to the news, the Aam Aadmi Party charged that the CBI was “working to file a fake case” on Kejriwal.
According to sources close to me, the Center intends to accuse Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of a crime and hold him for investigation by the CBI, despite the fact that the Supreme Court is almost certain to give him bail. Sanjay Singh, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, said, “The nation has come together with Arvind Kejriwal as they understand this.”
Arvind Kejriwal was detained on March 21 by the ED. On June 20, a Delhi court gave him bail and directed to release him on a private bond of Rs 1 lakh. However, the ED filed a petition against the bail ruling with the Delhi High Court.
Kejriwal’s bail was placed on hold on June 21 by the Delhi High Court, which postponed its decision until June 25. Then, Kejriwal’s legal team petitioned the Supreme Court to reverse the stay on his bail.
But instead of issuing an injunction right away, the Supreme Court told Kejriwal to remain patient for the High Court’s decision.
The Delhi High Court issued its ruling today, June 25, stating that Kejriwal’s release under the terms of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), which the Chief Minister was accused under, was not outlined by the trial court.
