Adrian Newey, the car designer and  Chief Technical Officer of Red Bull Racing Team is close to signing Aston Martin, soon in September.

On 1st May it was announced that Adrian Newey is set to leave Red Bull Racing, with his design duties. Even though he would permanently leave the team in the first quarter of 2025. Rumors and speculations started circulating the Formula One market that Newey would join major teams like Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren. There were reports from Italy that Newey is keen on making deal with Ferrari, and after the signing of Lewis Hamilton in their team, it would’ve been favorable for Ferrari.

However the claims were negated by Newey and his manager that no such deal has been made and he has no interest in joining Ferrari.

Adrian Newey had been with Red Bull for two decades, since 2006, and no doubt he was the key master of turning Red Bull from a mediocre team to one of the major teams of Formula One. Red Bull went from just points scorer to Grand Prix Winner and ultimately Constructor Champions. He is known for designing race cars that are built for winning races, the most recent one was RB-19 the dominant car on the race track, till date.

Red Bull had confirmed in May 2023, that Newey had signed a contract with them till 2025, but would leave in the first half of the season. Newey leaving Red Bull was a shocker for the team as well, since he was one of the revered person in the team and helped them secure 13 titles.

With the harassment accusations on Christian Horner and power struggle in the management of Red Bull, prompted Newey to take this decision. Few days earlier, Red Bull’s sporting director Jonathan Wheatley left the team. It has been evident that the team is struggling in the current season since Newey has left.

After Ferrari’s failure on appeasing Adrian Newey, the Silverstone based team Aston Martin eyed Newey and was interested in signing him. Lawrence Stroll, the owner of Aston Martin, Canadian billionaire has been making consistent changes, recruiting engineers, technical officers and with help of Newey, he is set to transform a mid team to one of the star teams.

Reports say that Newey had been offered a 100 million deal to join Aston Martin would oversee the chief operations of the team.

Verstappen’s contract with Red Bull extends till 2028, and his loyalty to the team persists, despite the rumors. However, since Christian Horner became a hound of media scrutiny on his misbehavior with his female employee; Jos Verstappen’s Max’s father had been loggerheads with Horner and continuously disapprove of him.

Along with that, Toto Wolff , team principal of Mercedes had been interested in signing Verstappen for the empty driver’s seat in his team. Newey would join Aston Martin after he leaves Red Bull completely in the summer of 2025, while Lawrence Stroll has been dreaming to transform his team, he wouldn’t let go of the opportunity to sign Max Verstappen. That would mean, the three times world Champion would reunite with Honda.

Thing has started shuffling in Verstappen’s management team, on the deal with Aston Martin.
