The International Monetary Fund ( IMF ) and the World Bank conducted their annual meetings in Morocco on Monday, 9th October 2023. The meetings are being conducted in Morocco one month after an earthquake killed around 3,000 people in the country. These meetings in an African nation are the first ones in 50 years. On Saturday, 7th October 2023, the Afghanistan city of Herat was hit with multiple quakes and tremors in the northwestern region of the city. On Tuesday, 3rd October, 2023, a tourist bus carrying some 40 passengers veered off an elevated overpass and plunged down about 15 metre, killing over 20 passengers, in Venice, Italy. Reportedly, at least 21 people, which also included children, died in the tragic accident.
