Speaking on how India helped to stabilize the world’s gas and oil markets during the war between Russia and Ukraine, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar noted that India’s strategic purchasing practices had a significant effect on global inflation.
During a conversation titled “How a billion people see the world,” which was organized by the Indian High Commission in London, Jaishankar spoke about India’s significant role in world events.
Jaishankar reportedly stated, “So we’ve actually softened the oil and gas markets through our purchase policies,” in an ANI report. Consequently, we have successfully managed Global Inflation. I’m awaiting my appreciation. He mentioned.
According to Jaishankar, India’s strategy for buying oil avoided a spike in world oil prices during the interview, averting possible market competition from Europe.
Regarding the purchase…According to Jaishankar in the interview, “I believe the global oil prices would have gone higher because we would have entered the same market and gone to the same suppliers that Europe would have done and as we discovered Europe would have outpriced us,” ANI said.
Speaking about the CNG business, Jaishankar stated that India has observed that many providers in the global LNG market had previously been going into Asia but had been redirected to Europe. Indeed, India was a large enough nation to get some respect in the markets, but other nations, much smaller in size, received no response at all from LNG suppliers, who had withdrawn their interest in doing business with them.
While outlining India’s stance on the Russia-Ukraine crisis, Jaishankar stressed the need to strike a careful balance between interests and ideals.
He emphasized the fact that although principles are regularly expressed, national interests frequently have an impact on them. Difficult experiences have taught us that although people discuss concepts, their discussions are frequently influenced by our own interests. In this particular instance, sustaining our ties with Russia serves a vital national interest.

Journalist Lionel Barber mediated this discussion, which took place at the Royal Over-Seas League Club during Jaishankar’s five-day visit to the UK.
Throughout the conversation, the External Affairs Minister (EAM) emphasized India’s critical role in reshaping international organizations such as the BRICS and G20, characterizing India’s strategy as a synthesis of revolutionary and evolutionary tactics.
EAM Jaishankar addressed the gathering and emphasized India’s unique place in the rapidly shifting global scene.
Jaishankar’s visit to the United Kingdom
Jaishankar called his five-day visit to the UK “timely” at the end of it on Wednesday, following a number of cross-party meetings and “substantial progress” on the ongoing negotiations for a free trade agreement.
As the first minister to speak with his recently appointed counterpart Cameron one-on-one, Jaishankar said the topics of conversation included the war between Israel and Hamas in West Asia as well as other regional matters. Additionally, he revealed that Cameron gave him a cricket bat that was autographed by the Indian and English cricket teams, a present he called “very special.”
“All things considered, I believe that this visit was both necessary and relevant, as these one-on-one encounters greatly contribute to the genuine development of international understanding”.
Along with the India-UK Roadmap 2030, which aims to strengthen ties in a number of areas, the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was introduced in 2021. Since January of last year, India and the UK have been working to improve their bilateral trade relationship through Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
