The biggest action entertainer of the year 2024 just dropped today with the unveiling of the first look of Baby John starring Varun Dhawan in the lead role, set to hit the theatres on May 31st. Previously titled VD18, director Atlee has combined the forces of Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi for his new film. Fans are stunned to see a glimpse of the actor’s brand-new avatar in this action flick.

On Monday, JioStudios released a one-minute teaser announcing the film’s release date. In the teaser, the leading actor Varun Dhawan is shown in a ferocious look as he sits on a throne made of guns while fire and explosions fume around him. The classical dancers doing their mudras expressively with faces covered in makeup increase the shot’s dramatic effect. The clip resembles that of a battlefield with weapons putting Varun in the center of the action as he prepares for war. The intense background music by S Thaman is bound to leave the audience with goosebumps.
Filmmaker Atlee has previously broken box office records with Jawan starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, and he is ready to make a comeback with yet another action entertainer. For fans who are unaware, Baby John is going to be the Bollywood remake of the Tamil film, Theri(2016). Alongside co-producers Murad Khetani and Jyoti Deshpande, Atlee has unveiled the first look of the film today, which he hopes would be a blockbuster much like the original movie.
Atlee’s Theri(2016) which was inspired from Mani Ratnam’s film Chatriyan, starred Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson in the leading roles The thriller-film is about an ex-cop, who is on a quest to save his daughter from his past enemies. The film emerged as the second highest-grossing Tamil film of 2016 as it received positive reviews from critics and was also a huge box office success.
Theri is one of the three blockbusters where the director, Atlee and Thalapathy Vijay have worked together, the others being Mersal in 2017 and Bigil in 2019. In 2023, the director made his Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan, which grossed over Rs 1000 crore globally.
Baby John directed by A Kaleeswaran stars Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi in pivotal roles. Jackie Shroff and Rajpal Yadav will be seen in supportive roles in the film. A cocktail between some of the most original forces in the Bollywood industry, Baby John promises the spectators an exclusive cinematic masterpiece. The action entertainer is bound to grip the audience with its captivating plot, powerful performances, and hard-core action sequences.
