About BABYMONSTER
The much-awaited debut of BABYMONSTER arrived almost a year after the initial introduction of its members in January and February of the preceding year. The group was also prominently featured in the online reality series, Last Evaluation.
Concluding the Last Evaluation series, BABYMONSTER was poised to debut as a seven-member group. The group embraces diversity, boasting members from various backgrounds including Ahyeon, Haram, and Rora from Korea, Pharita and Chiquita from Thailand, and Ruka and Asa from Japan.
However, YG Entertainment disclosed earlier this month that Ahyeon would not be included in BABYMONSTER’s debut lineup, citing “health reasons” as the cause. Presently, the group comprises six members: Ruka, Chiquita, Rami, Pharita, Rora, and Asa. It’s worth noting that BABYMONSTER holds the distinction of being the first girl group to debut under YG Entertainment since the introduction of the K-pop powerhouse BLACKPINK in 2016.
Originally scheduled for a debut in September 2023, BABYMONSTER’s introduction was subsequently postponed for reasons that remain undisclosed.
