Comprising members Chiquita, Ruka, Haram, Rora, Pharita, Asa, and the temporarily inactive Aheyon, the group has not only made a commanding debut but is also dominating multiple musical charts mere hours after the video’s release. “BATTER UP” has surged up the iTunes and YouTube charts, establishing two significant new milestones.

Released on November 27, at 12 midnight KST the debut single from YG Entertainment’s fifth-generation girl group has secured the top spot on the global iTunes charts in 20 countries. Among these are the Philippines, Peru, Malaysia, Chile, Argentina, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, and more, with the list continuously expanding. Furthermore, it claimed the top position on the music video charts of international streaming platforms, including Line Music in Japan and QQ Music in China.

According to the latest update from YG Entertainment, the highly anticipated music video for BABYMONSTER’s track ‘Batter Up’ achieved a remarkable milestone within the first day of its release on YouTube. The video, which showcased the group’s dynamic performance and captivating visuals, amassed an impressive 22.59 million views, as reported by Korea JoongAng Daily. This significant viewer count within the initial 24 hours underscores the global appeal and widespread popularity of BABYMONSTER’s debut, marking a promising start for YG Entertainment’s latest addition to the music scene. The achievement not only reflects the group’s strong fanbase but also positions them as a noteworthy force in the contemporary music landscape.

The emerging K-pop girl group rookies have set a new record, surpassing the milestone previously held by SM Entertainment’s quartet aespa. The latter had achieved 21.4 million views with the music video for their debut single ‘Black Mamba’ in November 2020.

About BABYMONSTER

The much-awaited debut of BABYMONSTER arrived almost a year after the initial introduction of its members in January and February of the preceding year. The group was also prominently featured in the online reality series, Last Evaluation.

Concluding the Last Evaluation series, BABYMONSTER was poised to debut as a seven-member group. The group embraces diversity, boasting members from various backgrounds including Ahyeon, Haram, and Rora from Korea, Pharita and Chiquita from Thailand, and Ruka and Asa from Japan.

However, YG Entertainment disclosed earlier this month that Ahyeon would not be included in BABYMONSTER’s debut lineup, citing “health reasons” as the cause. Presently, the group comprises six members: Ruka, Chiquita, Rami, Pharita, Rora, and Asa. It’s worth noting that BABYMONSTER holds the distinction of being the first girl group to debut under YG Entertainment since the introduction of the K-pop powerhouse BLACKPINK in 2016.

Originally scheduled for a debut in September 2023, BABYMONSTER’s introduction was subsequently postponed for reasons that remain undisclosed.
