Badlapur school sexual abuse case: MVA announces Maharashtra Bandh

Thane protests update: MVA calls for Maharashtra Bandh on 24th August to protest against the sexual abuse of two four-year-old girls at a Badlapur school in Thane district.

The recent Badlapur horror came into limelight since people showed up at the Thane railway station to conduct a protest for the two four-year-old sexual abuse.

The girls studying in pre-primary classes at a co-ed school in Badlapur were allegedly sexually abused by a 23-year old male cleaner at school. The incident took place in the female washroom whi9ch did not have enough female staff supervision.

One of the girls complained to the parents reporting pain and the feeling of displeasure. The parents were extremely shocked and even more when they realized that another girl was sexually assaulted as well. 

The incident took place on 13th August between 9AM to 12PM and the FIR report was filed on 16th of August.

On Tuesday, the parents of both the girls were on a silent protest right outside the school itself when a huge agitated crowd came out in support of the girls and joined the protest. The incident soon came into the view of the police and the media as well.

Thousands of protestors blocked the railway track lines in Thane railway station. They threw stones at the police personnel and vandalized the school as well. Akshay Shinde, the accused was taken to a magistrate at Kalyan this morning with heavy police security.

The violent protest reportedly injured at least 17 city police personnel and 8 railway cops. This has caused the higher authorities to take serious action against the violence. The internet service was shut down in the wake of this protest.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi announced a Maharashtra Bandh on August 24th to protest the Badlapur incident and the rising crime against women and girls.
