Hyderabad: A Ganesh laddu was auctioned for Rs 1.87 crore on Monday, September 16 at
Bandlaguda Jagir.
Over the last few years, the Keerthi Richmond Villas laddu has become the most expensive in the
state’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Ganesh Chaturthi is a significant Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesh, the god of
wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. In Bandlaguda, which is a suburban area in Hyderabad, the
festival is celebrated with enthusiasm, similar to other parts of Hyderabad and the
state of Telangana.
Ganesh Pandals: Several pandals (temporary stages) are set up in neighborhoods, including
Bandlaguda, where beautifully decorated idols of Lord Ganesh are installed. These pandals serve as
centers for devotees to gather, perform prayers, and offer their respects.

The laddu Bought by the residents of Keerthi Richmond Villas, a gated community in Bandlaguda that
itself sells the laddus every year, the selling price of the laddu prasadam is said to be the highest ever
recorded in the Telugu states.

Over the last few years, the Keerthi Richmond Villas laddu has become the most expensive in the
state’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.

Laddu at Keerthi Richmond Villas in Bandlaguda, Hyderabad, was sold for ₹1,87,36,500 or ₹1.87
crore in an auction held late on Monday night, September 16. This marks an increase of ₹61 lakh
from previous year’s price, where the laddu was auctioned for ₹1.26 crore. In 2022, the laddu was
auctioned at ₹65 lakh.

Money donation.

Residents of the Richmond Villas, who were elated, said, “We have been staying here for about 10
years. Every year, during Ganesh visarjan (immersion), we auction laddus. We use that money for
charity.”
The charities include several welfare initiatives in schools, healthcare, and also education and
healthcare of kids of workers, the residents said.
They decided to charity the money to Vijayawada, which are highly affected by the floods in recent
times.

The auction of the Balapur Ganesh laddu garners huge attention every year. It was first auctioned in
1994, when it was bought by a farmer named Kolan Mohan Reddy on a bid of ₹450.

Balapur Ganesh laddu fetches record Rs 30.01 lakh
The Samithi, which commenced the auction at Rs 1,116 saw bids touching Rs 30.01 lakh in no time
and Shankar Reddy came out successful, last year, the laddu was sold at ₹27 lakh.
Last year, Dasari Dayananda Reddy of Turkayamjal in Ranga Reddy district got the laddu for Rs 27
lakh. In addition to previous successful bidders, six new participants took part in the auction.
The lanes of Balapur reverberated with bhajans as the Ganesh idol proceeded amidst tight police
cover. A large number of people thronged to bid adieu to Balapur Ganesh.
Devotees celebrate Ganesh Visarjan day with great grandeur and enthusiasm and seek blessings of
Lord Ganesh. It is believed that Lord Ganesh fulfill their desired wishes before going back to his
abode.
