About a dozen students race to all four sides of the intersection. They use sticks and whistles to halt a melee of motorcycles, buses, and ricks adorned with flowers. The ambulance passes.

This is repeated from Dhaka , a  city of more than 10 million. Youngman, Madrassa women, boys in headscarves. Girls scouts in braids. They keep pedestrians safe, and traffic more or less flowing. It’s been over a week since  Bangladesh overthrew their prime minister in a movement largely led by generation Z college students, high schoolers, teenagers etc.

 Bangladesh’s former prime Minister, sheikh Hasina,  fled the country [ On August 5] as protesters marched into her residence. Many volunteer as traffic monitors because the police melted away from the former prime minister.  Police were widely seen as leading the crackdown on protesting students that killed hundreds. The deadly violence and protest turned into a movement to topple up Bangladesh’s longest serving prime minister. 

Terrible Experience of Students of Bangladesh

Hasan was among those who witnessed government backed student groups and armed riots, who were given “shoot to kill” orders, use violence and deadly weapons against the peaceful protest, stirring up one of the worst Bangladeshi violence in more than a decade. He was practicing in a protest in the university at Dhaka, last week when an armed man from the pro-government student group Youth league and violent police riot violently descended. “They launched a combined attack on us. We tried to defend ourselves with whatever we could find , but were mostly unarmed. At one point , the police and thugs and-watched us on a road. The police fired stun grenades, teargas, rubber bullets and pellets from shotguns. “ He said. 

Faria,23 , an economics student at a public university in Bangladesh, witnessed similar scenes as she took part in a protest in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She claimed to have been attacked by members of the Chhatra League, who struck her with sticks and pulled her hair. As the situation escalated, riot police fired teargas, causing her eyes to burn, and she heard what sounded like gunshots. In the chaos, Faria saw a fellow protester collapse in front of her, clutching his throat as blood spilled out. He appeared to have been struck by a bullet and was in a state of shock, unable to cry out in pain. Faria never found out what happened to him after that moment.

The traumatic scene continues to haunt her, invading her dreams and leaving a lasting impact. There has been different violent or non-violent protest going on in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Educational Institutes Reopen

Bangladesh on Sunday( August 18, 2024) renewed all educational institutions, including universities, secondary seminaries and sodalities, across the country after further than a month of check due to violence centering the people- led protests that led to the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The educational institutions in Bangladesh were closed indefinitely on July 17 to ensure the safety of scholars in the wake of clashes that erupted during the recent movement demanding reform of the job share system. The Ministry of Education on Thursday( August 15, 2024) issued a directive to renew the institutions under its governance. All the educational institutions renewed on Sunday, after a month of check.

According to Somoy Television, a Bengali news channel predicated in Dhaka, “ All concerned have been asked to take necessary way to renew academic exertion in all the educational institutions from August 18 following the instruction of Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, ” a advertisement signed by deputy clerk Mosammat Rahima Akhtar, said on August 15.

In the morning, academic scholars in outfit were seen going to their institutions, multitudinous accompanied by guardians, the Daily Star reported. Multitudinous points of Dhaka municipality are witnessing severe business business due to the reopening of educational institutions. The working week is from Sunday to Thursday in Bangladesh.

Firstly, classes were listed to renew on August 4 in all government primary seminaries, except in the 12 municipality pots and Narsingdi municipality, but this was also laid over. Meanwhile, the laid over Advanced Secondary Certificate( HSC) and original examinations will be progressed from September 11. According to the revised routine, the examinations will be completed on October 23. Classes at public universities have been suspended since July 1 when instructors went on strike in kick of a new pension scheme.
