Dear Gentle Reader,

We weren’t done swooning over the love story of Colin and Penelope, and now there is another Bridgerton man to swoon over.

Earlier, Netflix drops a brand-new announcement about the production of season four of Bridgerton with the main lead to be none other than Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson).

So what will be different for this season?

It was already in the minds of the fans regarding the final scene between Benedict and Eloise having a very heart-to-heart moment talking about their future, then the camera cuts to Benedict standing alone in the hallway ready for his future.

Now, Netflix is finally giving the Bridgerton fans Benedict’s love story. However, will there be any change in the plot of the story original to the novel?

Stick with the novel or not?

When it comes to making slight changes that don’t do much harm to the story plot, Shona Rhimes, the executive producer, knows what she is doing. By bringing in the presentation of race, and queer communities, the show creates a different spectrum in the category of historical pieces.

In an interview with ET, Rhimes shares why she doesn’t follow the flow of the novel because there are eight books representing eight siblings and the stories are similar. Therefore, it is necessary to bring up a “notch” to satisfy the viewers.

Changes in Bridgerton-verse have been happening from the first season onward, such as diversity casting for Simon Bassett (Regé-Jean Page) and Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) to make it relatable for the black reviewer, similarly, in second season, the main lead of Kate Sharma was renamed from Kate Sheffield, giving her an Indian ethnic background, and for the third season what left people with shock was the introduction of the character of Michael as Michaela, John’s cousin hinting at a queer romance for further seasons.

The third season explored the storyline of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, delving into the mystery of Lady Whistledown, and also included the story of Francesca and John,a later novel “When He Was Wicked”.

Now, fans are speculating whether Benedict’s season would have any other sibling collaborating in the narrative.

Benedict’s Story

Benedict Bridgerton, the second son of Edmund and Violet Bridgerton, appears in every episode of the Bridgerton series.

Reprising from the novel “An Offer From A Gentleman”, the story brings in a mysterious young lady to the Bridgerton masquerade ball party. The novel brings suspense and curiosity to the characters and the reader. Themed in a “Cinderella” situation, the novel brings in the character of Sophie Beckett trying to escape her stepmother and Benedict being very “prince charming”.

It is just about time when we see Benedict’s story get to the limelight, only to comment whether there are any changes or not. With the recent drop of the teaser for the fourth season, fans have dedicated their time to cast their dream cast for the character of Sophie Beckett.

The third season became a hit with the position of the 10th biggest English-language series with 91.9 million views and still counting, it is no surprise that the fourth season will be hitting the charts with its cast and story as fans patiently wait for Benedict to get his happy ending.
