Indian Speeches at Oxford
This was not the first time a Bollywood actor gave a speech at Oxford University. In the year 2017, Shah Rukh Khan was invited by the principal of Oxford University, Alan Rusbridger, to deliver a speech at the Lady Margaret Hall in Oxford. King Khan has made his place in the hearts of millions all over the globe.
It is his astounding personality and extraordinary achievements that made him receive the honorary doctorate in arts and culture from the University of Bedfordshire. He was also awarded the Ordes des Artes et des Lettres ( Order of the Arts and Literature ) by the French Government, in the past. Talking about personalities from other fields, Shashi Tharoor had also given a remarkable speech at Oxford in the year 2015.
Acting and Academics
Society has always told us that academic achievements can not go hand in hand with acting and dramatics, but it seems the times are changing. With Engineers ruling over the entertainment industry and doctors and IAS officers walking the ramp, the old ideologies and notions are now changing and taking a drastic shift. With parents becoming more aware of the career options, children are given the autonomy to choose their passion as their profession.
Discipline and hard work are required to succeed no matter the field, and thus the most prestigious universities around the world, go ahead and invite personalities from various fields. Indians do not fail to surprise the world with their eloquent skills and talent. Thus, we have Indians like Shah Rukh Khan, Boman Irani, and Shashi Tharoor giving speeches and lectures at prestigious universities like Yale and Oxford University.
