Kalki 2898 AD the sci-fi hit continues to run successfully in theatres. The sci-fi epic has grossed Rs 7.5 crore on day 14, which brings to a total of Rs 536.75 nationally, according to data revealed by Sacnilk.

Nag Ashwin’s ‘Kalki’ starring Deepika Padukone and Prabhas minted over Rs 414 crore in its first week nationally, following Rs 16.7 crore on the second Friday, going above on the second Saturday with a total of Rs 34.15 crore and Rs 44.35 crore on second Sunday. Again there was a drop on the Second Monday with Rs 10.4 crore and Rs 8.8 on the second Tuesday, according to film trade portal Sacnilk.
Box office saw a further drop of 14.77 percent on day 14, which is the second Wednesday, with only net collection of Rs 7.5 crore.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ outshines ‘Animal’ and ‘Gadar 2’
At the outset, the film minted most of its revenue from the Telugu version but later on the focus shifted to the Hindi version. Vyjayanthi Films, the producers have said that on the 11th day the film has crossed Rs 900 crore globally. Kalki had surpassed the lifetime earnings of ‘Animal’ starring Ranbir Kapoor, released in 2023, which grossed Rs 915 crore globally.
The sci-fi epic actioner also surpassed the ‘Gadar 2’ lifetime box office collection. The superhit ‘Gadar 2’ starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel released in 2023, ranked a total of Rs 525.7 crore at the domestic ticket counters. Whereas, ‘Kalki’ on its 14th day since the release grossed a total of Rs 536.75 crores.
Following SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali 2’, ‘Kalki’ now becomes the second biggest hit for its lead star Prabhas. For veteran actors Kamal Hassan and Amitabh Bachchan ‘Kalki’ has become the highest-grossing film.

Kalki 2898 AD is a post-apocalyptic film inspired by Hindu scriptures. It is set in 2989 AD and features a dystopian world. The film directed by Nag Ashwin, brings together the dream cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Hassan, Deepika Padukone, Dulquer Salmaan, and Disha Patani. The 38-year-old shares his experience of how the film production began during the pandemic, recalling, that it was “very difficult to get the finances”, he shares, “Luckily, we did have the biggest star cast of our country, so we had a little bit of a cushion there. Plus the previous films we (the producers) have done together, worked, so there was goodwill on that front.”

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is the biggest film of director Nag Ashwin’s career and he is relieved with the positive response, ranking more than Rs 500 crore in the first week. To that, the director says, “A movie like this is beyond us. The ambition was bigger in the sense, that there was a larger thing at stake than just us. Many makers were waiting for the result of this sci-fi film. If it didn’t work, it would have closed doors for more years.”
