World Brain Tumour Day is observed every year on June 8 to raise awareness about intracranial tumor. There are different types of brain tumors some are cancerous and some are noncancerous. Initially, tumors can develop in any part of the body and later spread to the brain.

What is Brain Tumor?

Intracranial tumor is a disease that weakens the human body and causes a range of neurological disorders and disabilities including short-term loss of memory, difficulty walking, and issues with focusing. 

Cancerous tumors tend to grow more rapidly than non-cancerous ones. People aged above 45 are at the more risk of developing this tumor while the tumors can also be found in Children. 

History

This Day was first observed in 2000 by the German Brain Tumour Association. It is dedicated to patients with intracranial tumors throughout the world and also raises awareness about this disease.

The early detection of the disease ensures timely treatment and early recovery. This is the perfect day to explore technologically advanced alternatives for the treatment of this deadly disease and also educate people about this severe sickness.

The theme of intracranial tumor Day 2024

The theme for the year 2024 is  “Brain Health and Prevention”. This means taking care of the health of the brain avoiding possible risk aspects and avoiding possible risk signs that lead to a high risk of the disease. This means that awareness concerning the disease might help in lowering the risk such as evading the exposure of radiation to environmental hazards such as smoking. Furthermore, Considering the family history associated with intracranial tumor might help in staying aware and detecting the symptoms early through regular checkups.

  • Taking a Balanced diet and indulging in physical activities
  • Protecting yourself from environmental hazards by wearing protective masks 
  • Regular screening for individuals with family history of brain neoplasms.
  • Foods to avoid for patients already diagnosed.
  • Limiting exposure to X-rays or CT scans and do this only when it is necessary.

It is important to note that many articles claim that taking a proper diet and adopting a Sedentary lifestyle helps cure tumors of the brain. However, it is not sure whether it will help in curing your tumor but it definitely could improve the quality of life and side effects of treatment.

Dietary precautions for individuals going through Treatment

A intracranial tumor diet is nothing but a well-balanced food chart that helps individuals protect against health problems such as diabetes cancer and heart disease and also manages side effects of treatment such as vomiting or diarrhea.
