HC asks Former principal of RG Kar Medical College to file leave application:
Calcutta High Court had earlier asked former principal of RG Kar Medical College Sandip Ghosh to file a leave petition. The move comes after Ghosh was appointed director of the Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital, Calcutta, shortly after his resignation from RG Kar College sparked protests.

The division bench of the Calcutta High Court heard several PILs on the matter on Tuesday. During the session, the chief justice questioned the appointment of the former director. “How can the director – who has refused to take moral responsibility, be appointed director of another public college? The court asked him to submit an application for permission before 3:00 pm today, otherwise the court will issue an order for him to vacate the post, ” he said the court observed.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister JP Nadda met a delegation from the Indian Medical Association on Sunday . The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has demanded an inquiry into the case and punishment of the culprits from the state of West Bengal. They also demanded the declaration of hospitals across the country as safe zones, a central anti-violence law and the introduction of security measures by the NMC for the recognition of medical colleges. In response to IMA demands, the Minister of Health assured that the first two demands will be considered during the acceptance of the security measures of the NMC.
