Chhaya Kadam , star of the recently released movie Laapata Ladies has shared her journey from acting in films to making a debut in the international film festival which happens at the Cannes.
Laapata Ladies has literally won every one’s heart and we can’t stop talking about it, it has literally created a stir that we can’t stop thinking about, witnessing the peak of acting and superb storyline is what we have been buzzing about since the day this marvelous movie has been released and one couldn’t but marvel at the Kiran Rao’s direction which is perfectly on point.

Her Initial Journey before Acting

Chhaya Kadam has grown up in a housing board called Kalina in Mumbai City .
When she was a child she wanted to become a Kabaddi player and she is even a State – Level Kabaddi Player, and then she went to own a gym shifting her dream towards the same but then afterwards she wanted to join the police force crediting her physique for the same, later on she joined acting.
Chhaya has revealed that initially she never felt that she was destined to become an actor, and acting has come very late in her life which happens very early in every well – known actors journey as they start preparing for their dream to become an actor just after they graduate or sometimes they take a drop out from the studies to continue their passion.
The actor is now heading for the 77th International Film festival at Cannes and she can’t be happier about it, she has even remarked that this is one of the happiest moments in her life and she can’t be thankful enough. She is about to witness Payal Kapadia’s Film ‘’All we imagine as Light”, which is also doing a debut over there and the theme is also the same itself.
What Fueled her towards Acting then?

She has credited her workshop with the National School of Drama Former Director who is a veteran Director of the theater and as well as an Academician, Waman Kendre, which happened in the year 2001, and she has credited, that workshop that has fueled her desire to become an actor and saying that it was the only beginning, for changing the course of her life.
Chhaya even remarked that people have thought about the journey of acting to be very easy to get but in real life it is a very hard one. She spent six years waiting for her first breakthrough in the film Industry. She said that whatever came along her way, she worked on it with full honesty, and with full determination and hope non- stirring. It was her debut on stage with Waman Kendre’s Zulva which created her base for her dream.
After a few years she had her first breakthrough with the movie Fandry in the year 2013 which made her very well acknowledged among the Indian masses and the movie due to its theme upon the social aspects of a society was also a critically acclaimed one.
After becoming an actor, Chhaya Kadam thought about getting a National award for the very same, but she never thought about getting herself listed in the Cannes Film Festival.

Chhaya Kadam has played a very important role in the recently released movie Laapata Ladies, which has become an indeed talk of the town with its simple yet innovative and creative storyline depicting the male hierarchy and a satire on how the male dominated society has put a chain on the voice of females.
Chhaya Kadam has played a pivotal role as Manju Mai in the movie . A character she has played has a soft corner for one of the lost heroines phool, in the movie, and she then tries to keep her with herself as Phool doesn’t find any suitable shelter for herself in the railway station.
She stands as a fierce, strong, independent woman who is a survivor of domestic violence, her rustic character and her behavior as a middle aged women have won the hearts of the people all around, she being fed up of her life and has accepted its blunt truth has been clearly exposed off through her outstanding acting, she taught Phool about individuality in one’s life which gets worn out while one further moves up with their life.

Chhaya has predominantly appeared in the Marathi films of the Indian Film Cinema, she is best known for starring in the Nagraj Manjule Films – Sairat (2016), Fandry (2013), Jhund (2022) and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Gangubai Kathiyawadi (2022), and the movie Nude (2018). She is also known for the recently released Madgaon Express .
She has also received the best supporting actress award for her movie Nude from the Maharashtra State Film Awards.
