The national capital is witnessing a politically heated environment, as the accusations made for Arvind Kejriwal by the Leitenant Governor of Delhi in his letter to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena have completely backfired. Atishi responded cynically regarding Lieutenant Governor Vinod Saxena’s political behavior through a letter to him.
LG objects against remark for Atishi Marlena
Lieutenant Governor Vinod Saxena had written a letter wishing a happy new year to Delhi CM Atishi in which he openly pointed out the constitutional error made by former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by referring to the present Delhi Chief Minister Atishi as a ‘temporary Chief Minister’ or make shift chief minister of Delhi. In his letter, he proclaimed that he was hurt by the lack of regard Arvind Kerjriwal has towards the constitution and accused Arvind Kerjriwal of insulting Atishi, her appointee Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, and himself, the representative of the Hon’ble President, the Leuitenant Governor of Delhi.
Although he mentioned that he appreciated her much better than her predecessor Arvind Kejriwal for living out her administrative duties as a Chief Minister responsibly by actively taking over various governmental departments and signing up files like the earlier Delhi CM was always reluctant to do. He also brought to notice that the misleading, non-existing, and unauthorised announcements by Arvind Kejriwal about senior citizens’ and women’s schemes have tarnished the dignity of the office of the chief minister and the council of ministers.
Atishi gets defensive about Arvind Kejriwal
The response of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena followed after a few hours to the letter by the LG. In her response, she lashed out at the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi while vigorously defending the cause of Arvind Kejriwal. Atishi, in her letter, asked LG Vinod Saxena to stop playing tactics of dirty politics and acting like a proxy of political games played by the Bharitya Janta Party. She defended the stance of being a temporary Chief Minister as being constitutionally apt since all ministers are only appointed temporarily and according to one’s tenure and not beyond it.
She further accused Vinod Saxena of politicizing the office of the LG and for ignoring the welfare of the people over his own political baggage and ignorance. She said that she was merely walking the path of which the foundation is laid by the legacy of the former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal himself, and he should stop maligning the noble and just cause of AAP’s attempt to make schemes for the senior citizens and women by calling them fake. She also vehemently criticised his attempts to trample on all of their efforts for political leverage. She further blamed him for failing to maintain a safe environment for women in Delhi and sternly expressed her wish for him to collaborate through constructive governance through mutual collaboration instead of playing a mere mouthpiece of the BJP.
